2011 Tahoe. Yesterday I noticed a rattle coming from the liftgate area. Went to investigate today, popped the rear glass and it twisted as it came open. Drivers side hinge appears to be loose from glass even though the one nut is tight. Is that hinge just glued to the glass?

ya, it's just glued on, happened to me as well on a glass that was only a few months old, dealer claimed they had never seen it happen and said they couldn't fix it so they just replaced it

Very common of the 14s and up, always replacing them here at work. Even the connectors on the rear glass that are soldered break and have to replace the glass.
