Right now I am looking at buying an LQ9 out of a wrecked 04 escalade with 76k miles on it. The guy who is selling it says he was unable to start the vehicle, but the engine looks pretty good.

The intake manifold and the throttle body have some damage to them and the water pump is missing, but that should all be able to swap from the 5.3 correct?

He wants $1750 for the whole thing and was wondering if this would be a good deal.

Also would like to know if anything else is required for the swap and what I should use from each engine.

I've been looking for a while and have had trouble finding any under $2k...Guy doesn't want to budge at $1750 and it would be another $300 in shipping so I am going to probably pass on it. All I really want is the short block. Anyone know of any rebuilt or low mileage short blocks for a good price?

From LI,NY that is pricey for non-running...not guaranteed motor. You get pne's from the junkyard for that price.

I got lucky 6.0/2wd4l80e, harness and pcm for 1150 and I heard the motor running.

There are guys scoring motors for as cheap as 12 dollars at pick and pulls.

What is wrong with the 5.3? You plan on adding boost?

Got the Procharger kit in yesterday and the trans last week. Still waiting on the rest...Stall is going to be like 2 weeks and I am not going to be adding more power til I have the new Trans with the stall in.
