First post here, hope it's in the right section...

I'm gonna be getting an 03 Yukon in the next few weeks, and I'm already looking at upgrades. I really want to put in an HID kit, which I'm totally new to, btw. Seems like the favorite on this board is the DDM kits. Using the Sylvania lamp guide, it looks like I need the 9006 lows, 9005 highs, and 880 foglights.

Not sure if I need the slim ballast model, or if the full-sized ballast will be okay (for $10 cheaper).

I'm looking for the brightest, whitest color I can get (a hint of blue would be acceptable, but no yellow), so I'll get the 55w model, just can't decide between 5k or 6k. Do the 5k's really have any yellow to them, or are the 6k's noticeably blue?

Lastly, I have no idea if I need the HID harness, error code eliminator, adapter cables, or mounting brackets.

These are all probably noob question, but I guess we all gotta start somewhere. Thanks for any help/tips!

your right on the bulb sizes but you dont really need to run HIDs in the highs. your choice though. im running ddm kits and have no problems with it. as for the ballast, what ever floats your boat lol. if you dont mind paying a bit more go with the slim ballast.
The whitest color and the color with most usable light would be around 4300k, the 5k wont have any yellow at all. as for the HID harness you dont really need it but i would get it just to prevent any problems. the rest you dont need.

and someone correct me if im wrong.

did a quick google search after what you said about the highs, and it looks like you're right. apparently they take a sec to warm up and don't like being turned on and off quickly. good to know, I'll probably skip the high's then. and it looks like the 5ks are what I'm looking for. since this will be my first install, I'll probably go with a harness and make it easy on myself. Thanks for the help!

Are you putting them in stock headlights

This. You may want to look into getting some projectors first. Otherwise you will blind everyone you drive past.

I went with the slim ballast since it makes mounting a tad bit easier.

Don't put HID's in stock Yukon lights. At the very least, get some Denali headlights, or aftermarket DEPO brand Denali headlights. The projectors make a lot of difference over reflectors.

I'd recommend getting HIR bulbs for the high-beams. Look them up, it's hard to explain, but they aren't HID and are brighter than pretty much any other normal bulb out there.

Get 5000k if you want white light. 4300k there may be a hint of yellow and 6000k there may be a hint of blue. A lot depends on manufacturer and quality control. Ballast size doesn't matter, there are plenty of places to put either. Harness is good but not a must-have, typically.

DDM is good for cheap, decent lights but be prepared to wait for them. They ship direct from China now and it can take a while in itself, and now some of them are getting turned back by customs. You can find Xentec kits on ebay for really cheap and I haven't heard anything bad about them, although I personally try to avoid anything on ebay.

If you want good quality stuff, there are a number of places you could look, but you'll pay more. I get most of my stuff from www.theretrofitsource.com
