Bought a 2007 LT Tahoe...

I've been looking at a 2007 Tahoe. Asking Price is 14950. It's got 130k, a few more miles than I like but good price. Whatever I get I plan to level and put 285/70-17's on. I was curious as to any advice you may have on this tahoe? I'm driving around 200 miles to look at it so I'd like not to make several trips! Any known problems I should look for? It's a 1 owner all highway trips St Louis to Kansas City. Here is an attached pic from his website. Thanks I'm advance, I did Search google, here, and TSB and came up with either this is a great truck or well hidden issue's! --------bought and picked up 2-21-14 130,000 miles.

Looks good from the outside. A cracked dash is a common problem, but it's a design problem, and any replacement is likely to crack again, so it's usually something you live with.

Make sure all the switches work, and show little wear. They do seem to easily wear. Parts are replaceable, but on your dime. I think some also suffer from a flickering or flashing driver's information center.

I'd check the underside for leaks, also checking the holes in the frame for evidence of being pulled on, like if any significant body work was done.

I'd also check the exhaust manifold for missing bolts. It's also common, and depending on whether or not you want to mess with replacement, discovering broken bolts (where the manifold mounts to the head), may be a determining factor on whether or not you buy it. I wouldn't let it stop me, but I turn my own wrenches.

have the seller take it in for a PPI before you make the drive. Let the dealer determine if there is anything that needs to be replaced.

He Took it to A Chevy dealer on my request yesterday. They ended up replacing the the oil sending unti and two tire pressure monitors. Other than that clean bill of health! I am about to do the paper work and get a bank draft.

You calling me fat!!

Nope, just the truck. They're pretty big, although shorter than the 96 Impala SS I currently DD. We would have preferred black, but a white one with low mileage showed up and we pounced on it. Even in PPV trim, it looks pretty big.

Soooo, did it follow you home?

Well may as we'll use this spot as a diary. Just in case anybody else is interested and or using the search function. Some things to look out for,
-broken dash
-chrome interior handles peeling
-tpms(what junk!!)
-rear defrost tabs(pull off)
After I bought it I decided it needed tint, I went 15% on the front windows and a 5% brow. The cost was 100.00 but definitely money well spent. I've also ordered a bunch of stuff.
-ccm 2.5"/1" leveling kit
–20" Texas repo
-275/60r20 Firestone Destination A/T
-4 new tpms (no way to disable)
-mangaflow muffler(appointment set)also doing the res delete and hidden tip
-airaid jr dry filter kit
-iridium ax delco plugs
-new borg/warner wires
-oil catch can
-weather tech digi fit (full kit
-chrome door handles
-talked to local tuner about Efi live(will set appointment after the rest is done)
-rear window defrost repair kit
Soon as some stuff rolls in its time to get to work. I should have all things dip one this round by 3/15/14!!

You do a log with black bear and they make you a custom tune. They specialize in tunes for our vehicles.

Nice ride, Hawg! Mine is also an 07, and the rear defrost tab just broke off on mine too...just in time for more snow last weekend. Murphy's a *****, lol. All told though, I bought mine with 113k on the clock and have put about 11k miles on it since I bought it nearly a year ago, including trips from Denver to the DFW area and back, Denver to Minneapolis to Toledo and back, and most recently from Denver to Elko, NV and back for Christmas. All straight-through trips, only stopping for gas. Truck has never once missed a beat. The drivetrains are stout, its the little things that start taking a crap at higher mileage.

Partial to black myself...mine needs tint though. It's next on the list. This is pre and post RC 2" leveling kit. Thinking about pulling the kit off though and letting the front setting back down, I think it looks better that way. Those are 285/70/17 terra grapplers though, so I'll have to see how bad the rubbing is.

Check for recent work done. At that mileage the tranny has probably been rebuilt or replaced, clean throttle body, breaks, fuel pump,... I have the same year and that is what I've dealt with since 2009.
