Long Time Since Switched to 4WD : Advice?

I have the gear fluids from the dealer. Have yet to swap fluids on the diffs.

Should I switch to the different drives on occasion to keep things loosened up?

Since it has been over 3 years and 25k miles of ownership, precautions?

Well, don't do it on hard surfaces unless you're going in a straight line. If you have a 2-speed transfer case, switch it into neutral too but remember to chock the wheels so she don't roll down the driveway into someone's car or kid!

I run mine through the paces about once a month even if only for a block.

I always suggest clicking it into 4wd for at least 15 minutes twice a year, keeps fluids moving. if you can put it in 4h and go for a little drive, will circulate and keep things moving good... Don't neglect the front diff fluid either. It will make a little noise being engaged for the first time in 3 years... drive slow for a bit to let things move and fre up.......

Your a/c system has oil in it to lube internal moving parts and besides the benefit of removing moisture in the cabin when running the defroster, it helps to move that lubricant around in there.

Your axles and transfer case need that too. I know others do what they are going to do with the fluids they use, but I am a stickler of using the recommended GM fluids it calls for.

just remember it would be preferred if you have any dirt roads around you. i would kick 4wd on on the dirt road rather than pavement. if you dont have any dirt you can drive on make it a fairly short trip on pavement.

If a guy/girl can't find dirt within a 5 mile trip, well that is just wrong. Even in NYC you can get to the dirt roads/paths underneath all those Mafia graveyards under all those bridges.
