Locating the door chime on a 05 z71.

I'm trying to locate the door chime on my husband's 05 z71 tahoe. It's super loud and annoying. We have checked inside the box under the dash, and nothing there. It sounds like it's coming from on top of dash behind the cluster. We took the cLuster out and nothing.

It comes from the radio. Is it a factory radio or aftermarket?

On my 05 Z71 the chime noise comes out of the driver's door speaker. I also checked to see if the volume knob on the radio made a difference with the volume, it does not.

From my '04 manual (check your '05 manual since it may differ) for the factory radio:

My chime is pretty loud, so I am going to attempt this and report back with the results.

I attempted this and it made no difference and neither LOUD or NORMAL was ever displayed. I have my manual and will read thru it.


Second attempt: I did not have the radio turned off the first time. Ignition on and radio power off and press and hold 6. I was on normal and believe me, the LOUD is too LOUD. Back to normal.
