Latest OTA update introduced a new GPS 'feature'

Not from this last OTA update but from the one just before it, I've notice that when I switch from any view back to the view where it has the radio on the left and the map on the right, the radio tile loads/has a line on the bottom 75% of the window and after a few seconds it fills up and takes the entire left window. A minor annoyance but it never did that prior to the update I mentioned above.
I'm also noticing that I can no longer zoom in on the map anymore (stock GPS, I'm not using car play at this time).
If I try to zoom in/out I can either see the entire world (almost) or my 'normal' zoomed in view. I can't drag/move the map around, either.

I believe when an OTA update is done, GM should have to email and mail the owner a letter describing exactly what changes were made.
Many of the OTA updates are done while the vehicle is under warranty, and GM is very coy and secretive about the updates and changes made to the vehicle. The work / changes to the vehicle should be documented for the owner (such as a work invoice when the work is done at an authorized dealer).
On one service visit for my 2024 Tahoe Premier, seven updates were done to the vehicle. The service department was unable (or unwilling) to tell me what the changes and updates were meant to do. Although I received a work invoice, it simply stated updates performed.
GM has sold MANY new vehicle knowing they contain known software defects. I believe GM is trying to avoid lawsuits by providing updates but concealing what changes were made to the vehicle.
If techs update the software, does it not list that in the vehicle history on the infotainment screen? I can see the updates I clicked to 'install' but I'm not aware of any that were done by the dealer when I brought it in for maintenance. I didn't ask or look but I do still have all the receipts so I can check, if needed.

You have to tenable the HUD, via the main settings.. easy peasy
update information is generally found in your settings under updates and history.
aside from that every update done to every vehicle has a unique code, the dealer can pull those codes and show you, at minimum it will be a unspecific system improvement. i.e. bug fix which could be literally anything random that they have found that could be a problem there is far too much computer related data running in your newer vehicles and the system is always going to be buggy in one form or another.
say for instance a developer found a security bug and informed gm, gm takes that private data and creates a fix and updates the system and it never becomes public.
could be anything stupid simple like a hacker entering the computer on the brake pad sensor and being able to take over the vehicle.
that's why you won't ever get detailed information "sometimes". you do not actually "own" the vehicle and everything in it, you retain the right to use it only, just like most things now.
if you buy a new phone or a new computer, tv or anything else that does more than just plug-in and work. you agree to XXXXX when you click the button to use it.
same goes for the car and any software in it.
This update allows recording of vehicle cameras to a USB stick if anyone is interested/curious.
I just tested it out, went for a quick drive and it recorded 4 clips, front, left, right, rear. The resolution isn't great when viewing on a 27 inch monitor, but for the screen in our cars the resolution is fine, but I'm not sure if a lower res version is sent. It is certainly better than nothing but it isn't a 1080p or 4k dash cam view, that's for sure.
Another thing I noticed is that the FOV is more accurate/realistic in the exported video on the USB drive than it is in the vehicle. In the vehicle view when I'm looking at front/rear cameras it seems like there is more distance in front or behind than there really is, but on the exported video it looks normal.
I tried to look for a USB in my center console but did not find one, the only USB I found was the one to the right of the charging pad. Not great since it sticks right up and can get in the way of the items I place in that open space, but it does make it easy to grab (must eject from recordings app, first, in order to not corrupt the recording files).

Buy a stubby thumb drive and you won't have interference problems with Phones. Etc....

I just got this today and I already had the recording feature added a good week to 10 days ago by a previous update......
Yeah, that will likely be the next move.
Interesting. The update I saw specifically stated it was bringing in the camera recording. Maybe it was there and they were updating the app/features? Not sure, but I didn't see anything about recording in previous updates.

I mentioned this about a week ago when I had a symbol on my cameras that was like a movie camera with a slash through it and I ask what that symbol was and somebody was smart enough to say that potentially was recording cameras weren't set up. Lo and behold when I went down there was a new widget for recording. I have since fleshed that out and ordered A mini thumb drive and expect to put it in play tomorrow. As an added bonus the software that was loaded last night miraculously brought back the name of my phone to the top of the screen. That had been gone for months, I thought it was somewhat my fault, but I think somebody figured out at GM that a lot of people were missing their headers on the top of the big screen....
