Just started getting a message that key fob battery needs to be replaced. This is on a two year old 2023 Suburban. Seems a little soon. Heck I am running a 2008 Honda Fit and have never replaced the key fob battery.
Any thoughts?

I have to replace the fob battery every two years since I got my Tahoe in 2016. The last time it did it the low fob battery message never came on and wouldn't start. Finally started after taking the fob out of my pocket and holding it by the dash.

Honda key fobs last longer before a battery change. I have no idea why. By coincidence, my 2015 Honda Fit just advised me to change my fob battery, and this will be only the second time that I've changed the battery in the 10 years that I've owned it.

My Yukon XL, every 2 to 3 years before a battery change. Go figure......

I bought a couple of ebay Fobs for my 2021 Yukon Denali - https://www.ebay.com.hk/itm/265964057538 - and I was able to get them officially programed at my GMC Dealership as driver #3 and #4 and they work. However....

I get 'replace battery' message on the DIC after just a few days or weeks - but not every time. After replacing the battery for the 3rd time I ignored the message. After about 5months of intermittent messages couldn't get into the car / had to use the key to manually open the door.... but the car started OK (phew) with Fob inside. Added new battery and it works again.

I also have an original GMC Fob and it doesn't seem to have this problem.

Maybe this is a hidden issue with ebay Fobs? - not quite good a GMC originals?

No problem with buying a battery...Just seemed strange as never had one go this quickly.

Moderator....Thanks for moving.

I understand, and was playing.

Seriously though, there are enough variables involved that I would just get another battery. Two years from a $5 battery isn't awful. That may not solve your problem, but it seems that the odds are pretty good.

When you replace the battery, spend a couple more bucks on a high quality battery, like Energizer or Duracell. The cheap batteries you can get at Amazon are not reliable in this application. Learned from experience.

Picked up a Energizer for $6.78. Took about 2 minutes to replace the battery and about 8 minutes to get the new battery out of the child resistant Package. LOL It is good that the vehicle gives you a notice when battery is almost done.

Opening those packages are a PAIN if you don't have scissors or a knife. Glad your FOB is back in order.

Do you use your Honda Fit keyfod for doors, remote start, tailgate, back window, all window roll down? They get used a lot more these days.

Most remotes don't do anything until you push a button. I suspect these newer setups have the keyfob always on to some extent, sort of like a battery clock.

If you use the remote start a lot I have found that the battery does not last.
I think it is a 2450 battery, available at VCVS.

I just replaced the battery in the key fob for my 2024 Tahoe. Maybe 2 months ago and just started getting low battery notifications.
This is with OEM fob and Duracell battery.
Interesting thing is I started getting low battery notification couple days ago and nothing since but yesterday truck would not start.
After pushing lock/unlock buttons several times the truck started and I haven’t been getting low battery notifications.

I will replace battery but think it is a glitch in the fob or DIC.

I’ve got something similar going on. 2024 Tahoe LT. I started getting the “replace battery in key” message a few weeks ago (I’ve had the Tahoe from new in late 2024) so I went and got an Energizer CR2450. I’m still getting the message on the DIC.

Any ideas why?

Do you have a second FOB and, if so, how is its battery health?
