ol' gearhead
TYF Newbie
I bought a stock '99 2dr 2wd Tahoe listed on AutoTrader.com back in 2008. Had it shipped from Texas over to Maui and here's what I did to her:
She is now hooked up with a full Ride Tech air suspension with a triangulated four link at the rear. The front features Ride Tech Strong Arms and Belltech 2" drop spindles. Front and Rear Hotchkiss sway bars keep the ride smooth and 22 inch KMC Surge Wheels with 265/35R22 Nitto rubber give it an added dimension of legitimate street cred. A Sir Michaels roll pan and shaved rear tail gate smooth out the rear and I added some IPCW LED tailights. Up front I installed Street Scene chrome grilles and custom ANZO light housings to further the custom look. Inside the cabin is a full Alpine Sound network with 10" subwoofers. I painted the dash and plastic moldings black and added new black carpeting, re-covered black headliner, black vinyl covered door panels and Roadwire black leather seating make the cruise comfortable while white gauge faces and a billet steering wheel from Billet Speciaties finish it off.
To get the ol' girl breathin' a little easier I created my own Air Intake using separate parts from Spectre Performance. Then I put a 3" flowmaster exhaust system on it for a little added boost.
I had to take out the front inner fenders to get the 22's to tuck and now I am in the process of making some custom inner fenders 'cause it sure gets dirty under the hood drivin' in the rain without inner fenders!
I have done all the work my self with a little help from my friends once in a while. She's got 207,000 miles on her and when the motor gives up (still runnin' strong btw) I want to drop in a 425 hp LS6. Man, that'll be fun to drive!
