I have removed fuse #76 (retractable steps fuse) under the hood of my 2026 Yukon AT4 after extending the running boards as I can't stand the things going in and out all the time. I measured the clearance distance while stowed and deployed and there is exactly one inch less clearance with them deployed so no big deal. We do not drive in snow, mud or rain (very little) here in Arizona. Does anybody see any reason why this would not be OK for long term use?
Thanks

You could have also just kept them in the deployed position from your vehicle settings but I don’t see any reason why it would be a problem either way.

Not possible, if they are set to Deploy in the Infotainment they deploy but revert back to automatic once the vehicle is restarted. And they will only deploy if they are set to "On".

I wish they could be locked open, I would use them to step up while washing the car roof.

We have 2021 Yukon Denali 6.2L. Out camping and exploring a semi-off-road track, dirt wedged in somehow and they wouldn't deploy! / makes it difficult to get in/out when this happens. As stated above I couldn't freeze them open via software/settings.

So I too am interested if OK to pull fuse / keep deployed all the time - will be following the thread.

I have driven mine since I pulled the fuse and everything is working just fine, no errors in the dic and they now also get washed when going thru the car wash which they were stowed before.

You can actually do that, just open a door and then put a foot with some pressure on the board and close the door, the board will remain deployed. Or pull the fuse and let them stay deployed like the vehicles with the fixed running boards.

Well, I tried lowering my running boards during a car wash, and they jammed some low mounted spinning brushes and tripped the breakers and the car wash stopped and the lights went out. Now im sitting there in the dark and it's all quiet. After a minute the worker came out to see what happened. i raised the running boards and they reset everything. That was a strange experience. i won't do it again. TG

Just crack a door. It doesn't take much at all. I do it all the time washing mine, Lets me wash the face of the running board quickly. But I also use a long ARM device with a microfiber mop on it To do the windshield and the roof and I don't really need to step up at all. Work smarter not harder...

No issue leaving them out other then the hinges might seize up faster then they normally would from lack of use.
