Can anyone recommend me what type of jacks and hydrolic floor jack to use when doing a tire rotation on a 2011 Suburban? I have 4 short 2ton jacks that u usually use to fix my 92 camaro and wife's 2012 Rav4.... there is no way i'm going to use these on my Suburban!

I have a 3 ton, long reach jack from Harbor Freight. I put the front up on Jack stands then lift the rear under the differential with the jack and rotate the tires.

I also use a HF 3 ton low profile floor jack, but I also attach a cross beam to allow for lifting one side of the vehicle at a time. Comes in real handy as I have winter and summer tires and wheels for my tahoe and the wifes yukon,

I've been wanting to get one of those cross beams. Price has gone up on them and been waiting till it's on sale.

I also have a standard length 3 ton jack. I wonder if I got 2 of those cross beams and used one on each jack on each side if it would be stable enough to raise the whole vehicle up to do a rotate? That'd be easier and quicker than using stands on the front.

A 3 ton 'high' lift height over 20" jack would be my recommendation to you. Harbor Freight has these jacks at a reasonable price.

I have a regular Harbor Freight hydraulic 3-ton jack that has twin pistons unlike my old Craftsman which looked near identical with 1 piston and a 3-1/2 ton rating.

3-ton jack stands at a minimum, sometimes I wish they were bigger for some reason. Skip the Harbor Freight stands for now and buy some ACDelco or Pro-Lift stands. I miss the ones with the pin.

You can get the ACDelco stands at O'Reilly's and the latter at Walmart. HF has redesigned their floor jacks, this would be closest to what we use. Have fun!

Now that I look at the pics, those Pro-Lifts have a pin, in a different place, but still better than one IMO, I'd get those, heck, I might go buy some of those to replace my other ones! I need something to lift the Sierra anyway!

I have a set of those big ones with the safety pin. I think they're 6 ton.
I also have a medium sized set, forgot their rating, and 2 sets of the smaller, standard sized stands.

I’m not sure why you think your 2 ton stands are inadequate, unless they’re just not long enough for your liking? A Burb does not weigh more than 4,000 lbs per corner.

That said mine are probably 4 ton, but I work on a bunch of heavier vehicles.

I have a 3-ton HF jack, and I just use a block of 4x4 pressure-treated wood under the frame rail to get the extra lift.

I find it easier to put it up on 4 jackstands than try to rotate the jack and one jackstand.

Ever since the HF jackstand recall, they've been hard to acquire. I took the gift card for my two recalled pairs, and bought blackjack 3-ton stands from Walmart for $25 a pair.

Wood is the best and safest cribbing. Concrete blocks, even solid ones, crack & crumble at the most inopportune times. Like when you're under the vehicle. IMO, any jack that can lift 2 tons or more is safe...as long as you put a set of stands under the vehicle or crib it in some way. Remember...Safety First! Never get under a vehicle that is only being held up by a jack, hydraulic or mechanical.

They're short stands for small vehicles.
