I was told I need to clean my IAC or possibly replace it, any insight on what it is and how to get to it would be greatly appreciated.

Silver canister thing sticking on sideof throttle body. Need ford bit. Use tb cleaner carefully with light brushing if needed. Clean body passages and seat as well. Reinstall. Turn ignition on off on off, ten seconds between each key movement then start. After that what problems do you have? Or what is wrong now if you would like to say?

Idling rough and around 600 RPM (is this a normal idle RPM?). Do you think this could help that?

600-700 is fine but not really a firm fact of rough running. perhaps try cleaning you air induction system and egr. also insure that the ignition parts are proper and in good condition.
