I know it’s a Dana and it came out of an 04 GMC Van, but I can find any information to build it for my son’s truck. Can anybody help?

Also if you go to Rockauto and look through their 04 Savana 2500 area. They list parts for dana60/61 rears. That will probably be a good place to look

I was thinking it was a 60, but the cover has the 12 bolts and the other 60’s I have found all had 10 bolt covers. I did find that the old truck 12 bolts had a true 12 bolt cover. However with this rearend coming out of an 04 van and having 6 lug axles I wanted to ask others. I have searched every number on the rearend. I also called the Chevy dealership and searched on DANA’s website and got nothing.

It is going to be an upgrade for the factory 10 bolt in a SCSB 99 Silverado.
Throwing wider wheels on the rear?

Not to insinuate that you don’t know what you’re doing. I know I just learned that the express van rears are significantly cut down from the pick up truck rears. Assuming majority of the HD truck suspension crosses over to the vans, I was recently shopping to get 4.10 12 bolt out of a Silverado (they’re much easier to find). It’s not a matching rear.

It's a Dana Super 60 for GM. 9.75" ring gear right? Dana Super

I agree with you but we are cutting the spring pitches and relocating them. The truck it is going under is a street/strip build and this is the must economical route to put a bulletproof rearend under the truck. That is why I am asking about it. Everything in/on the rearend except for the brakes is Dana, but it’s gonna need a posi.

A 9.5" semi floater with a Trutrac and c-clip eliminators (if going faster than 9.99) would be less expensive no?

Yeah, I believe the Express vans ran the Dana 60S (60 Super), but I thought those were all 2500/3500 series with 8 lugs.

Sounds like you are converting it to 6 lug, right? Do they sell lockers/LSD for the Dana 60S? Or is that not needed in your application?

Another option for a swap is to use the old 14 bolt 9.5" SF GMT800 8 lug (not the 10.5 full float) and swap axles. There's some modifications using Express Van 6 lug brake calipers also required. I've read this on the performance truck.net. They have a sticky on this swap

If we were going to boost it I would go that route, but this is an N/A build that won’t be anymore than maybe 500hp. In the future it will get a narrow 9”, but for now the yearned only needs a posi. It already has 33 spline axles and disc brakes.
