Claims to increase horsepower and performance, but does it really?
I have one on my 07' 5.3L. It can compensate for increased wheel diameter, change shift points, shift firmness, max rpm's etc.
But does any of this produce any measurable performance gains such as 0-60 times? And does firmer shifting harm or help transmission in any way?

IMO

There are two things that SUCK about the NNBS trucks.

AFM and the transmission shift map, I would get a tune mainly to correct those things.

Unless you are modified a lot, you wont see "tons" of gains performance wise.

To me WOT gains are not the real world..... Driveablilty matters more day to day.

Well first if you will, what the heck is AFM and WOT?
And any suggestions where to set my shift points or do I just play with it until it feels right to me? How about top speed and rpm limits? Will firming up the shifts hurt the tranny?

Don't dive into tuning without some knowledge or you will do more harm than good. Better yet just contact Blackbear IMO

Well I used it ( Hypertech Max Energy) to tune a prior 07 Tahoe and enjoyed the firmer quicker shifts and higher rpm shift points. But the Tahoe felt more performance oriented than the Burb I have now. But then again I had a K & N and dual Magnaflow on the Tahoe which obviously weighed a little less. I already (still) have the Hypertech in hand and I'm trying to decide if I want to reduce the luxury a bit in favor of drivability.
