How to disable auto play with Android?

I have a 2021 Yukon XL Denali.

Every time I connect my Android Pixel 7, it starts auto playing either a podcast or audible book.

I find this really annoying.

I've tried to disable everything I can but it still autoplays every time.

Does anyone know of a solution to this?

It's under your android auto settings on your phone.

Android Auto
Start Music Automatically

Yep, that's been turned off and it still does it

Looking at my Android Auto app, there is a setting 'Start Android Auto automatically' Default (set by car).

This would suggest that your head unit makes the decision on what app, if any, starts automatically with Android Auto.
