How my oil looks at 73% life left, and 174605 miles.

Mobil 1 full synthetic… looks a bit dark for 73%. Next change due at 176,579 miles. What ya think?

I think how oil "looks" has zero to do with how its performing. Often its black in a few days...

I'd say it looks normal for around 3k on it. Mine usually only stays clean looking for about 1 -2k before the darker hue sets in

How many miles does the oil have on it? 73% doesn't say much. I'm with the guys above looks normal to me. Just my opinion but don't go by the oil life monitor.

For the longest time close to 200k miles I was running mobil 1 extended oil in my pontiac and changing it every 10k miles. One time I forgot to reset the oil life monitor and it came on 6k miles in to the next oil change. So 16k miles. Yeah no thanks. 10k was pushing it in my opinion even though i think that oil says its good for 15k or 20k. I don't go by monitors in any of our vehicles. Now it's 5k miles for all 3 to keep it simple.

Not much I just got it changed like an over a month ago. And I just drive in town.

Oil was changed in April. Just do in town driving back and forth from work.

Need to send a sample to Blackstone or SPEEDiagnostix.

It's impossible to assess oil condition based on a picture of some oil on your hand.

The visual can be misleading, especially if the last oil change didn't get out all the old oil. And it never does.

Also, filter (quality ) and frequency of oil changes matter more than oil brand.
