Electric cars are the Betamax of this decade, the Lightning is very cool but I believe that every EV bought this year will be in the landfill in 10 years because the battery costs more than the whole car.

Having tossed that rock in your pond, I have a 2020 Denali and I love it! I haven’t had it long enough for anything to break. I came from a 2021 Ford Exploder that was very shoddy, the dealer was clueless and I traded it for my Yukon. It’s comfortable, quiet, great in snow and simple, easy to drive. I love the HUD, reminds me of something I flew. And it really goes if you want. It does, however, love 94 octane.

I can’t think of another vehicle I’ve owned that I like more.
Turn on voice prompts for "Bitschen Betty" too! LOL

Buy a 2017 or later. There were some buffing issue related to the roofs on the vehicles not being welded or sealed properly - most prominent in 15 & 16 models. If you are buying an LS or LT, upgrade your headlights to HID - you will thank me. Have the thermostatic valve removed from the transmission cooling lines. Should drop your tranny temps about 30 degrees which will increase longevity.

Other than that, I just turned 70k miles and no issues.

The buffeting can happen on any of them, including pickup trucks. But yes, the 15 and 16 are the worst.

I had a 16 LS 2wd I bought in 18 and bought a 19 4wd in 2021. Both have been wonderful trucks. Bought my 16 with 22k miles and sold to Vroom after 3 years with almost 60k on the clock for what I paid for it. Bought my 19 with 17k miles on it. I use the trucks as DD and also for towing in the summer to track events and car shows around the country. Honestly, 0 issues since my initial purchase in 2018. I maintain all my cars like clockwork though. Every fluid, filter, etc. ahead of schedule but I do use them as working trucks, not garage ornaments. So far, 0 regrets on the 16 or 19.
The GM AFM curse is always there, but I use a Range device to at least stop the constant bs v4/v8 switching. Not a penacea, but the less you let that garbage activate, but better.

My 2018 has been great, not 1 single warranty issue at 44,000 miles, SLT Premium. Just getting ready to trade it in on a new one in the next couple of weeks if I can complete my quest of finding one...

We had a ‘16 denali xl from brand new to 135k miles, just traded it in on a new rig. Never had any major issues at all. Overall it was a stupendous rig. Great power, plenty of room, and great mpg in my opinion for the size/power of it. The mrc shocks did end going out at around 70k miles, which is actually more miles than most seem to make it. Changed the brakes out at around 120k miles, which were still in decent shape yet. Drivers heated seat went out toward the tail end, as did the AC, which were both fixed by the dealer (at our expense).

In my opinion i would try for a later model year, though, to get the 10 speed trans (think it was late ‘17’s and up). Ours had the 8 speed, which gave us no trouble, but i have read of issues with the early ones with the 8 speed.
