The other day while pumping gas I noticed it starting to spill out from under the car right by the spare tire.
I have had the filler neck replaced ("re-manufactured" from some exhaust piping) so it's not that. I dropped the spare and the condition of the hose leading from the filler neck to the tank is questionable but I didn't find any holes. Since it's a 2002 and I was not the first owner I'm unsure if one of the previous owners have made a quick fix. What should the hose leading from the filler neck look like?
Mine looks like it's two pieces of hose with a metal piece in between right by a beam that runs across the car in-front of the spare. Is this correct?
If it is correct would a fix involve more than unscrewing some hose clamps and exchanging the hoses and the metal bit?
If this isn't correct what is involved is this a do it yourself type of thing (with very limited resources as I am on the road across the US right now) or a shop thing?
Do you see any problems to continue driving with it for now (given that the gas would have to be pumped low and slow)?
