(Apologies to Jamie Johnson.) Sunday's Chicago Tribune had a story about the 2021 Escalade--"Ready for hands-free driving?" The last sentence of the article: "The 2021 Escalade 4WD Sport Premium I tested had a sticker price of $113,065."

I speced a premium luxury with super cruise for $97,365. Nice vehicle but it would draw too much attention.

I don't think people buy an Escalade to be obscure, nor do they care.

As far as I'm concerned, if you can drop 100K+ for a vehicle and like it? .... Who cares what others think!

Interesting, I value obscurity but I do like the Escalade over it's siblings, a lot.

Not sure if Super Cruise would be more or less stressful in traffic perhaps it would take time to trust it. On a less crowded interstate it would be a good thing. What do you do for hours if you're not driving, become another bored passenger?

I personally wouldn’t waste the money on super cruise, and I don’t really know why people would want it. Unless you can absolutely be doing something else and not have to pay any attention at all while driving, why have some thing that allows you to be hands-free, yet you must maintain attention or it will pull you over. It’s either I’m driving,Or the car is 100% driving itself. If it can’t do that, I’ll save my money and drive it myself like I do today.

I too am intrigued by the Escalade, and if I could truly find one in the way I wanted it equipped with a Duramax. I might actually spring for it. You only live once and you can’t take it with you. This surely would be the last big SUV I would ever buy and you might as well go out with a bang....

I hear the seats may not be as comfortable as some like. Might be a reason to wait for the updated Navigator, one of the most comfortable seats in the industry plus the hybrid will provide more torque and horsepower with better gas mileage.

I've heard the complaints about the seats, and I just don't get it. The Escalade is the most comfortable sitting vehicle I've ever owned and it's not even close. I prefer it over my buddy's Black Label Navigator.

And I remember when I paid $27,000 for my first new truck...a 2004 Chevrolet Z71. But, those days are long gone too.

I paid 38K for my RAM Cummins quad cab in 2004. Still have it and its still relatively like new. What's crazy is without any emissions on it, (no DEF or any DPF filter...) I've been offered 25K + for it today. Sorry , not for sale ! Luv the smell of diesel in the morning !

I have the last gen Escalade snd the seats are outstanding. Took mine in for service snd sat in the new one, wow, the seats are even better than before.

The Navigator seats have too many adjustments. Drives my neighbor who owns one insane. He said he can never figure out when to stop adjusting and constantly second guesses himself I he’s got the right setting.

Got back to town after a 1300 mile trip. On the return I kept thinking of super cruise so I pulled into the Cadillac dealer in Indy and took a test drive, seats are okay the cabin is great. But for me the whole point is a moot one, orders are six months out and would likely transfer into 2022 and it requires a $5000 down payment for the opportunity.

Coming through the hills of eastern Kentucky's congested I-75 no way I'd take my hands off the wheel but further north where the traffic thinned on the six lane interstate maybe but when the middle lane slows to 65mph and the left lane has drivers going 85 it would require human intervention to increase speed above the set point to get around slower traffic unless one wants to be the fastest vehicle on the road or slow the left lane, not a good idea. With the congested roadways of today I think the opportunity to let the vehicle take over would be limited unless you are willing to give up some time and go with the flow. All this doesn't take into account the couple of times the only indication of a traffic jam were the brake lights of a few cars as they disappeared around the upcoming bend, whoa Nelly.
