I installed HID lights a couple of weeks ago into some prjectors i got off ebay but there are really bad hot spots and uneven lighting, it drives me nuts. I have a 2002 tahoe and am looking for help/recommendation on what housings to buy or if i should just scrap the HID all together and go back to stock. Im guessing there is a thread about this already but I have been super busy with work to have much time to search for answers.

The reason I joined here was because I had really crappy projectors with problems just like yours and I was looking for something different. Mine had the H3 bulbs for low beams and looked like crap. I bought the Depo's posted above except with black housings and they are night and day difference, my HID kit is on it's way from DDM as I type. I would definitely recommend the Depo's.

Oh yea my first post finally. There were so many posts on projectors and HID's I didn't have to post to figure out what I wanted.

:welcome:

There is no shortage of HID or projector threads on here, that is for sure. Glad we could help.

It sounds like you got the exact same crappy projectors i have, I ordered the DEPOS, im keeping my fingers crossed that they re better. White type of bulb does the DEPOS projectos use for the low beems? I bought the H3 HID kit for my current projectors so if its a different bulb ill need to order more bulbs.

The Depo's take the 9006 bulb so I just ordered new bulbs from DDM for $15 and hopefully they will work with the old ballast's from the H3's. They should be here tomorrow so I'll put them in this weekend and see how it goes.

And thanks for the welcome I've been lurking here quite a while just haven't had to post yet. I was a member over at TF also.

I have the same DEPO Projector lights (chrome) also, installed on 2002 Tahoe with just standard bulbs at the moment.

Have ordered from DDM Tuning (and patiently waiting !! ) 35W 6000K for the low beam and 55W 8000K for the high beam .. both the slim ballast versions. I ordered these last month (Feb) .. backorder, saying that they will be starting shipments on 3/10 .. so hopefully soon I can have these installed.

Going with the stock head lamps with the H.I.D conversion was so much better. I had the same problem wasting my money on ****** projectors that cant take the heat. But the stock lights i feel spread the beam much better. I have 10000K in my stock head lamps and fog lamps and they look great. Just interested in how long the fog lamps last from the heat.

These are not ****** projectors at all. Very high quality. The bracket is flimsy, but can easily be stiffened. I have been there with the crappy projectors that leak and are poorly made so I know what you mean. It's just not the case with these. They spread the light very well too. Much better than stock.

I agree, lights are good, and bracket is a bit more flimsy than stock. What have you done to stiffen it?

A lil bit offtopic, but am I the only one who gets these annoying light 'dots' at top when using the depos?

No, they all have those. I eliminated them because they really annoyed me. Just get some JB weld and fill in the little holes. When you take the bulb out, you can see the three little holes on the cutoff shield inside the headlight.

i was told the put them in so the hit above road signs

That's what they are there for. They are just so irritating to see though. It's not like they even light up the whole sign, just a little dot of it. They shine in the trees too haha
