Help with Tahoe

I need help I am looking at a 05 Z71 tahoe with 118,000 miles two owners good shape looked into vin they want 12,200 something for It I tihink thats to much and dont know any history about the engine ame transmisson. My son wants to take to college what does everyone think. I have little knowledge about cars. Jill

Without knowing all it`s options it`s tough to tell the kelly blue book value but in very good condition it`s worth around nine to ten thousand.

The engines are very good and long lasting if properly maintained. The weak link is the transmission. If not abused or used to tow heavy loads they sometimes last a few hundred thousand miles but not very many of them. From being a member here for a while it seems they tend to die around 125K.

There are thousands of these trucks out there, I`d look for a cheaper one.

It`s also a great idea to take a vehicle you`re thinking about buying to a mechanic to look it over before buying it. If he finds any problems it`s a great bargaining chip to get a lower price.

thats too much IMO, you can find a similar year and miles escalade or denali for that price...
