Setup: 265/75/R16 on factory 16x7 Cutter wheels

I will be ordering a set of Guard Dog M/T tires from TreadWrite. I was recommended to upgrade to 285/75/R16's by a few people on here, which I would love to do (and see a few have done so on stock wheels) However TreadWrite sent me this reply when inquiring about the size:

Dustin,

Thank you for contacting us. You are right, the rim width range for the 285/16 is 7.5-9 inches. It would not be a good fit for your 7 inch wheels. It would cause rapid, uneven wear of your tires and would not be covered by our warranty. The closest fit for your rims that we carry is the 265/75/16, which would be a little shorter that the 33" that you desire. I'm sorry we couldn't be more help to you. Please contact me again if you have any further questions.

So those of you out there running 285's on stock wheels, how is your tread wear/ride quality etc? The next available size is 265/75/R16 which stands at 32.2 compared to the 285's 33.2.

unknown at this time.
Perhaps you might look at other tires, tire sizes or plan on getting new wheels. If Treadwrite says their 285's won't work on a 7" rim then I would not push the issue unless you have money to burn.

I can't get wheels and tires right now or I would happily do so. My work flooded so I'm out of a job right now. So its one or the other and tires are needed for inspection. I have 265/75R16's now with no rubbing issues. The treadwrite tires aren't much bigger, but are slightly taller

I could see the 285's rapid wear issue because of the tire being so big and the factory rim being so small. I know I could not run 285's on my wheel because of the offset on them. I would def need a body lift or sus. lift. Might be a different story on a factory wheel though they are tucked alot more than mine. My factory wheels have BFG rugged trails 245/75/16 and they look really small on the truck. Those are my winter shoes.
