Hello from Europe! 07 Denali XL

Hi Folks,

Just to say Hi and introduce myself.... new member here from Europe (guessing we are pretty rare).

Im in The Netherlands to be precise and I just bought myself a 160k mile 2007 Yukon Denali XL.

They are a rare car here, I wouldnt like to hazard a guess how many there are on the road in this country, but I could be pretty confident it would be less than 20 in total!!

Car is a brown/gold colour (wouldnt be my first choice, but its all that was available) with a 7 seat tan interior.

Overall the car looks pretty decent, but im going to give it a full service for piece of mind, a deep clean, and will tackle some of its cosmetic issues.

I just ordered a sh*t load of parts from RockAuto, they should be with me in a few days, and at the end of August it goes to the local shop for the following:

- New camshaft sensor
- Spark plugs + cables
- Oil + filter
- Accessory belts
- Transmission oil + filter
- Transfer case oil
- Brake pedal sensor

On the drive home, the motor ran (temporarily) rough and then refused to start for about a half hour.... then it struggled back in to life and ran perfectly for the rest of the journey home. There was a stored code in the ECM for the crankshaft position sensor, which is way im changing that out.

The CC is also inop, which is why im changing out the brake pedal switch.

Ive got quite a few little jobs to do around the car, so ill no doubt be topping by with questions!

Hei! (thats all the Finnish I know!)

Welcome aboard!

I know at some point GM made the decision that if a Check Engine light was on, the CC would not work. But I dont know when that started.

I still dont get the point of why they have to put on those under bumper lights. Can you explain?

Hey

Im actually British, but live in NL (Dutch) :)

I think the CC is either the brake position switch, or the aftermarket LED tail lamps interfering with the system. The CEL is off for now, so its not that.


The regulations for vehicle lighting is different in different euro countries. This car has been registered in Germany, where combination stop/signal lights are not allowed, and signal lights must be orange, not red.

So the lights on this car have been modified. At the moment the orange blinkers are where the backup lights would be in the clusters.... then the previous owner has added a backup light and a rear mist lamp under the car to pass inspection.

In my country, combi stop/signal lights are OK, and red signal lights are OK too! So ill be returning the tail lamps to a stock setup, if I can figure out the wiring.

Unfortunately most (all?) USDM cars do not come equipped with rear mist lamps - so we have to add them.

Welcome from NJ. Looks in good shape. What do you mean when you say "rear mist"? Referring to the exhaust smoke, or fog?
