Im not sure they used to be called but today they are called 1500hd. I bought a 94 sierra parts truck that came equipped with a 14 bolt rearend in what I think is a 410 ratio. I am in the process of swapping the rearend, front diff, trans and transfer case as well as various other interior parts. Can someone give me a definite answer as to what these trucks were called and what all gear ratios that they came in. I was also wondering what ratio my yukon came equipped with as it didnt have a tow package and it is a 2 door gt if that matters any?

unknown at this time.
Suvs came with 3.42 or 3.73. The 1500 bodies were the same base truck, but just had say stronger axles or extra cooling capacity or maybe even a stronger tranny. Those would have been like 3.42, 3.73 or 4.10. The last two listed were likely installed. The rpo code sticker in the glove box panel will have 3 digit codes. Look for any that starts with the letter G.

What stated above.
Don't believe any came with a 4L80 though, should all be 4L60's in the 1/2 tons.
The brakes could be had bigger, axle a 14bt sf, bigger cooling, secondary trans cooler, think an extra leaf in the rear pack.

Even now a 1500HD depends on the year your talking about. GM did make one (a real one) that was an 8 lug, in the 90 body style they made a light 3/4 that was a 6 lug. Really a heavy half. Should have been the other way around.

GQ1 -- AXLE REAR, STD RATIO
GT4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.73 RATIO
GT5 -- AXLE REAR, 4.10 RATIO
GU4 -- AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO
GU5 -- AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO
GU6 -- AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO
G80 -- AXLE REAR, LIMITED SLIP (POSITRACTION)

HC4 -- AXLE REAR, 4.56 RATIO

Nope. These trucks were labeled 2500s but had six lug axles. It from what i understand means that is has a 14bolt semi floating rear end. Either the 4l60e with a trans cooler or a 4l80e and 3/4 ton leafs.

If it had a 4l80e there are a slue of parts needed to swap a 4l80e into a truck with only a 60. Things like bell housing and stuff.
