Well guys, when I took off the harmonic balancer I noticed there was no key. I failed to mark how it came off. I asked a couple techs over here and they told me just to put it on. I dont buy that. So now what do I do? I read somewhere here put it at top dead center and align a pointer of the balancer at 12:00 and that should be it. What is the real deal boys???

just press it on like you were told. you dont have a distributor to mess with or timing marks to read with a timing gun any more.

The harmonic balancer on the LS engines are not keyed (except the early 97 LS1 Corvette engine)(?)
It obviously doesn't matter which way it goes. It's just a press fit that's held in very tight.
Your next post is probably going to be: "How do I tighten this damn #@$&! thing?"

Your "harmonic balancer installation tool" is already installed on your engine. The harmonic balancer crank bolt. Use it to draw your balancer down on your crank nose.
How does one keep the crank from rotating while torquing the balancer bolt. From what I have read the depth from the tip of the crank to the balancer face should be checked which would involve removing the bolt again?? Are two bolts needed for this procedure as they are one use only?
I had to sent my balancer back with the engine core as I could not get the damn thing off even with heat from a torch.

I mean, when you buy the bolt, it does say not to use it for installing the balancer… but it seems most people just do it anyway

most will use a pry bar on the flex plate teeth to the block to keep the engine from rotating. or the air gun deal does work. the crank bolts is supposed to be tty one use only why the installer is nice cause its a 18 dollar bolt.
Get the ARP reusable bolt. See post #4, and be done.
