Picked up a cowl hood yesterday off CL for $300 + my hood. I've needed a new hood ever since I bought the Tahoe. The previous owner didn't latch it down completely or something and it must have flew up while he was driving because there's a real bad kink on the drivers side. I tried to get it fixed but he said the hood is all messed up and that id need a new one. So, came across this one and it just happened to be white. :D Saves me a ton of money since cowl hoods go for $400+ after freight charges then you gotta get it painted. The guy took mine off and put this one on and off I went.

I'm pretty happy with how it looks, besides the swear word that's keyed into it lol. Tell me whatcha think.

And here you can see where someone keyed "**** u" or "fucky" in it. I can't figure out which one. And there's also a couple key scrapes to the left of it that go down to metal. Getting that shit fixed ASAP. Anyone have any ideas of how to repair it? I was gonna get one of those pens and then just wheel it.

looks good. as for fixing it you can either go the right way (sanding down to metal and repainting) or the ghetto way use good masking tape and paint shield (paper or tape) and mask around the keying. rough sand the area, using a tongue depressor and a small can of bondo, lightly fill the scratches. *note* you don't want to completely fill them just mostly. light sand and then spray white primer and let dry. repeat this until the scratch is almost gone. once your at this point, get the dulplicolor match for your white, paint over the primer, let dry, repeat, then clear coat. since its on your hood the slight mismatch in wear shouldn't be noticeable....

Your hoe is fat man. That thing looks sweet and that cowl hood looks really sharp on it. I think it says fucky... I would just keep it on there though, it looks good :)

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

Yes, it's really keyed into the hood. It really sucks too cause that's the only flaw. I'll have to try what quietfly suggested and maybe get a little help from my buddy who does body work and fixed all my rust and shit.

Every time I look at it with this new hood it makes me wanna lift it and put the Cragars on some 35's instead of saving the money for some 24's next summer. I think it would look so sick.

what kind of hood is it?? nice score, still got mine cheaper ahahha i paid 200 without giving him my hood

But seriously. love the truck as it sits, throw one of those pictures in your SIG and be done! looks ******* rugged and tough. Maybe use a 1/4 or 1/2 wheel spacer in the rear to match the front tires sticking out and be done. looks better (sorry man) like that then with the other rims..

Not sure on the name of the hood, the guy didn't know either. You really think it looks better?! I think it looks like shit compared to my old 22's lol.

And thanks MOB, it's definitely my best craigslist find yet.

You could always paint the sides of the cowl black to match the wheels. It might look stupid i dont know but it might not. might have to photoshop that one around a little bit. or you could paint a chevy emblem and then tahoe in black on the sides of it

Yeah id love to do that. My dad has 20's wrapped in 35" pro comp xtreme's on his H2 and I think a setup like that would look sick. The problem is I just don't have the funds. If im gonna lift I wanna do a suspension lift, since tahoes show way too much frame to begin with, and those are not cheap. Then you got the cost for some 35's. Mount and balance those, and then the cost to put the lift on, alignment, etc. I'd be looking at over $3k, right?

@Tahoewhat, yeah there was a bad storm coming in. I think it makes my tahoe look so much more badass imo lol.

yeah the contrast of it, looks really good (that background and white tahoe) and a lift and all that would look good. Do it as a winter mode.. Lol
