I plan to get a better price out of it.
The vehicle was a trade, and the owner just got another tahoe. She wanted the new bright blue color (Topaz I think?). The maintenance records show some repairs and warranty work, but no major work done. If the headliner looks good when I go back up there, and I can find a way to get an extended warranty...I'll go for it.

I would like to have the 6spd...but I don't plan on towing, I have a truck for that. It will see some limited beach/sand use, so the 4wd will help...but I don't think the 4spd will struggle with the light duty it will get off road. I'd just like to have it for the fuel economy, and resale.

No bluetooth in 07? Bummer! I didn't notice that. My wife uses that a lot in her car...may have to figure something out for that.

Thanks again for the info everyone. Hopefully I'll be a permanent member soon.

Well your in luck because their is a mod for that. You can buy the 09+ factory VCIM/Bluetooth and add it to your 07/08! A lot of members here have done it. I'll eventually do it if I find one for cheaper. On eBay this one seller consistently has them for 250 shipped for both the BT antenna and the VCIM.

Hmm, I'd like more info on this please. Can you send me a PM so as to not thread jack?

I disagree with just about everybody! I am also shopping, a 07-08 was where I started and was finding the same $25ish for a LT (have a Z71 now, I'm just buying a grille for $300 and adding it to aLT) the rest is fine... ANYWAY, I am finding LOTS of 2011 for $32-35k with 20k +/- on them. For the extra few bucks, I'm going for it, and I'm a cheap SOB in the used equipment business. What I won't do is spend another $18-$20k for a 2012 with no miles.

What were on these 2011's with 20k +/- in the $32-35k range? That seems awfully cheap for anything that has any kind of options on it to be that new with low mileage for you to find "LOTS" of them. I want to live where you live I think :)

Sounds like a fleet resale to me. 1 year old with ~20k miles. That's about right for a rental car. When I worked for Thrifty car rental in Salt Lake City would would sell our SUV's after the ski season with 16k+ miles on them for very cheap. Keeping them would have cost us more.

Yes, I think they are fleet cars... No sunroofs, no Nav systems, etc... Fine by me. All stuff I don't really like oor can't be upgraded. I am looking for a black one, going to add the mesh grille and swap out the wheels when the first set of tires are due. Want to domy own version of a 'Harley Davidson Edition' My vehicle ego is satisfied in other ways, I have a Carrera cabriolet and Wrangler in the fleet, plus 2 Harleys, but my Tahoe is the workhorse.

Plus I don't like a few things about my current Z71, I ended up switching out the shocks and tires. The roof rack SUCKS, I was all pumped about it as I was using it a lot, until I actually got it, it nearly got swapped for a stock LS or LT one.

All of the used low mile 2011 tahoes here are fleet vehicles.

None of them have dvd, nav, sunroof like my wife wants...and they have 15-30k something rental miles.

Exactly! I know I drive them hard...and I'm probably more conservative than most, so who knows.

Anyone know if leases still exist on new vehicles? Id consider leading a new one too I suppose...

I know they still do but I've heard they've tightened up who they lease to. You probably won't have any issue qualifying if that's what you choose to do.

Understand wife (or anyone else) wanting those niceties. I was just pointing out $25k is a lot of scratch to spend on a 5 year old Tahoe IMHO.. How sure are you the previous owner(s) didn't beat the snot out of it? How much factory warranty on that 5 year old truck will you have? I have no trouble buying a rental car that still has at least a years bumper to bumper factory warranty. I don't care how bad they beat it for the first 15,000 miles, they aren't hurting it, most people that rent these are adults, not morons anyway.

It still has 56k and 14 months on the power train...and I would add 4\48 extended GM protection plan.

If it works for you, that's cool... I haven't spent any significant money on any of the 3 I've had (95, 99, 02), bought all of them with 30kish miles, started looking for replacement at 170kish.. Why I keep buying them! Best of luck to you.

First off, I'm new here!

My Wife wants a Tahoe...she currently has a Nissan Rogue AWD, and it's a little too small.

So, if she wants a Tahoe, I'll be there to make sure it's a nice one. I'm looking at Z71 Hoes from 2007-2011

I know the 2009 got the 6spd trans. However, I'm having trouble finding a decent deal on a 2009+ in my area. All of the ones I am finding are black, or even Z71 2WD...and we don't want another black vehicle. We want 4x4 as well.

My question is - if I find a really nice 2007 or 2008 with low miles and the right price, would you STILL pass on it and wait for a 2009+ just due to the 6spd vs 4spd trans?

Is there any other major reason to go for a 2009+ vs a 2007-2008?

Thanks in advance,
SQ

Welcome to the forum! Any luck on finding the right vehicle yet? Have you checked out GM's 'Certified Used' website? I would start there you can search your local area or surrounding areas for the vehicle that you would like. Keep us updated on your search!

Just my opinion but I would never buy a rental car. Beyond having the snot beat out of them, when (not if) they are in a finder bender (small or large) the rental car company has them repaired at the bodyshop they contract with. These shops use the cheapest materials available when repairing these cars. They rarely use a direct to metal primer, the clearcoats are cheap, meaning little or no uv protection and will probably last about 5 years on average. They don't use oem body panels, rather cheap aftermarket replacement, and if possible will sling the old panel full of filler before replacing it.
I work in the industry and see rental car repairs every day. I would never buy one.

I would be very leary with that 07. The whole issue that they have with oil consumption would freak me out.

Mine doesn't seem to have much of a problem with that
