You should start your own thread for these questions. Plus, How do you know, "It has been well maintained"?
I did start my own thread, but I'd be interested in the opinions of those who were already helping me in this one. As for your other point, I don't have an ASE master tech that can go check it out, but I've inferred as much as I can based on the information I have (including having a friend test drive it and look it over). Same owner for the past ten years with service done at Cadillac, no obvious issues, clean body and interior. I'm going to have my buddy take it to his mechanic when he picks it up for me, but I'm fairly comfortable with it - all things considered.

That's what I was asking. I wanted the details as to how it was decided it was well maintained. Plus, after is bought, will now see what needs to be done that did not know about before you purchased.

Yeah, I wish I had a better way to come to that conclusion. Unfortunately I have to infer much of it for now and accept the risk.

I have been searching for a 1/2 ton GMT800 pickup and when I ask for repair and maintenance documentation, it is either crickets or they actually admit to not having any. This happens 99% of the time. I have also ran in to "reconstruction titles". The truck looks ok but when it is volunteered that it has a reconstructed title, the story is always something minor, with no details.

Most people do not keep records for anything. I have never purchased a used car that came with any records or documentation of any kind and only two of them had the window sticker in the glove box.

It ALMOST never works, but I've found prior owner's info in cars at car lots. I call and ask. Their motivation to lie has passed.

The market is worse than ever these days. So much junk being sold by people who clearly never cared about their vehicles, yet somehow think they should deserve top dollar. My buddy went and picked this truck up for me last night and thankfully it has a good amount of records and two keys & fobs. I ran the vin and it turns out to be the premium edition, so I'm optimistic.

Looks like you need to go ahead and sell the newly acquired gmt900, right your wrong, and buy a gmt800
This was a really tough decision. My 800 was one of the best vehicles I ever owned. I'm going to give the little brother a chance and see what this 900 is about though. We can always sell it later if necessary. I really appreciate everyone's help. This is a great group of people.

Post up some pics when you can and maybe a little comparison on your likes and dislikes between the two generations.

While you are in Sarasota…. Take a walk around St. Armand’s Circle. ( over the bridge )….. Lot’s of neat stores & restaurants, all lined up in a circle street.
I grew up in SRQ. I lived there (and in Tampa) for 30 years. I used to valet on St. Armands, but I'll probably still roll through and get some Esky pics by the beach. Why not, right?

Oh, very cool! One of my good friends is a painter there. Perhaps we should introduce them?

Wyland has quite an ego……. He’ll like him if your friend buys something…..
I did some murals with Wyland….. But his paintings are $$$$$$$$.
