So after looking around for awhile I found a 2022 Z71 that checked most of the boxes I had been looking for at a dealership about 90 minutes from my house; when I called they told me the vehicle was available (much to my surprise). Apparently it was customer-ordered and then the customer backed out. So I drove over and everything checks out except they told me there was a problem with the 2nd row seat when it came from the factory and they were waiting on a bracket or something to fix it. They guessed it should only be a few days but it was coming from GM and they didn't have a ship date. They were selling with no dealer markup, gave me a good deal on my trade-in and offered to put me in a loaner Tahoe off the used lot until the part came in, so I figured it was still a better option than ordering a vehicle myself and waiting 6 months, and I bought it.
15 days later and there is still no ship date from GM on the part needed and the dealer sold the loaner Tahoe I was driving and put me in a little Equinox. I talked to the parts guy doing the ordering and he gave me the number on what he ordered: "frame assy 86825157." I believe it's the larger side of the whole bench seat. He also confided that it may be tough for GM to part with a whole back seat when they are all slotted to go into new vehicles on the production line and suggested I might make things move along better if I complain to GM directly.
I found an email address on this forum- [email protected] and sent a note a few days ago but no response. Does anyone have a better method of making contact or tips to move this along?

No option to take the vehicle and get the seat part when it comes in? Is there no seat back there now? Seems like a real odd situation.

good luck there are people waiting months for some parts, you might get it faster from a wrecking yard.

Couldn’t you take delivery of the vehicle and just use the 3rd row instead of the 2nd as a temporary solution until the parts come in? That’s what I would do

Yes, I could take the vehicle without the middle seat but I had a couple of family trips planned and that would be tough with putting gear in the middle and kids in the back. At the time they offered the older Tahoe that was a better option for me, but now that I'm in an Equinox I may re-consider.
Was really just hoping somebody here had a phone number or other method to get a response out of GM, as fruitless as that effort may be.

Sorry to say but that would be extremely wishful thinking.... GM hardly seems to care about customers with their "presold units" sitting in storage yards for unknown reasons and preventing revenue being made.

As others have mentioned, so if it's possible to take delivery and finding the part elsewhere, while your GM dealer waits for it to come in.

Definitely not the ideal, but I would confirm that part number again with the service department and see if you can find from a 3rd party site. I couldn’t find that specific part number on the parts list. If the part is cheap enough I’d order and see if you can get the dealer to eat it to expedite the process.

The only thing I am finding is the entire seat assembly, both sides, for 750 bucks shipped. But that individual part, I cant find anything that says it even exists!

Both are located in Texas... If your local. You dont have your profile completed, so I dont know where you are in the world..

unless you want to keep waiting for who knows how long I would just get the ebay one and slap it in there, even if the color is different it will work until the right part gets there.
I would ask the seller what that smudge is though on the right hand side.

Regarding GM escalation
I have a 2022 Denali XL diesel, open issue since January 4th, waiting on a fix needed from GMC (dealer isn't the wait). The truck has been back and forth multiple times, absolutely pathetic response from GMC. (this isn't out of stock parts, this is corporate GMC not able to formulate a fix to an hvac issue on a denali)

I've called into their customer help line multiple times (1-800-462-8782) they will create a case and assign you a 'senior customer advocate'. Sounds impressive but they are a 3rd party who are not able to get any information out of GMC but they can call and complain to your dealer (who is waiting on an open case with GMC).

I've owned multiple brands and have warranty issues with multiple brands.
GMC escalation path is by far the least responsive by a landslide if I could get a replacement vehicle I'd let this one lemon law out.

maybe you are reading somerthing different?
"So I drove over and everything checks out except they told me there was a problem with the 2nd row seat when it came from the factory and they were waiting on a bracket or something to fix it." That doesn't say the seat is missing

That does not say defect anywhere and if you put 2 and 2 together, if there is no bracket then there is no 2nd row seat installed either unless it's flopping around back there somewhere.......
then he also states in his 2nd post there is 2nd row seat
doesn't take a rocket scientist,,,,,,,

If it was me I would have them show you bracket to see what the problem is. You have purchased vehicle so you have paper work with VIN number call customer service 1-800-222-1020 with information on bracket and that you where told that part would be in asap see if they can help expedite part to Dealer.

if it only worked that way.....many people would be happy, especially the ones that have had there vehicles sitting at the dealer for longer than they have been able to drive them.
there are part and chip shortages, there is no secret menu to get around that.

It certainly says there's a problem with the second row seat, not that it's missing, smh. For all we know, it's cracked/broken/loose. pretty hard to have a completely missing seat when there's no second row seat delete option.
