Front Dash Crack

I have a 2007 Tahoe, and have recently found a crack on the front dash. I was wondering if anybody else has had issues with the dash cracking for no apparent reason. By the way, it is on the back side of the top dash right behind the airbag cut out for the passenger.

Don't know why that would happen unless someone tried to remove that top dash trim peice and borke it in the process.
You could always just but that top dash trim peice only from www.gmpartsdirect.com and be good to go?
When I mean top dash trim peice their is a one pice that goes from the driver side to the passenger side behind the airbag that holds the DRL light sensor in the middle.

Thats what I was thinking about doing, just do not know how to remove it. by the way, it is not the back section, it is the front section that runs the entire length of the dash and around the A/C vents and Stero.
Do you know how hard it is to remove and replace?

Yeah changing that part would be pretty hard and ver expenive as it is a big peice.
Looks like you may have to leave it as is.....

Yes...I just recently noticed a crack in my dash as well. It is just above the steering wheel to the right of the coutoured hump. I was looking online and also found another post from another Tahoe owner with a picture attached showing the same exact crack as mine. Manufacturing defect ? I have taken very good care of my Tahoe so I can't believe this has happened.

Mine also cracked almost at the same spot as yours. Mine is just on the left side of the hump. I bought it at Carmax and they are repairing it under there 30 day warrenty!

2007 Tahoe Dash Crack !!!

Attached are pics of the crack in the dash of my 2007 Tahoe. I am convinced this is a manufacturer defect and am looking for anyone else that has noticed a similar crack in their dash. I have found others on the net that have the same crack in the same spot.

2007 yukon cracked dash

I have a 2007 yukon that has the same problem with cracking dash this should not happen on a 2 year old truck . im going to take it to the dealer to see what thay say

This past Sunday, I discovered the same issue with my 2007 Tahoe. It is at the dealership right now and they are denying coverage under manufactures warranty. Obviously, I'm not giving up so easy since I found this forum/post.

Cracked dash

Hello everyone my 2007 dashed cracked almost the same way. I brought mine down to the dealer yesterday and they are going to replace it. They said they haven't seen one but asked no questions and ordered the part. He informed me that the dash is all one part. It is not like the 2006 where the top part is separate. The service writer said it would be an all day Job and may need to stay over night. So before changing it out bring it to your dealer. Doesn't hurt to check these days.

This is the same way mine was cracked. Dealership originally denied the claim and wanted $1100 P&L to replace it. Their reason for denial was that we had to have smashed the dash for that type of damage to occur. I called GM customer service and a relative that works at a GM dealership to find out what my options were to fight the denial. We went to pick the vehicle up and surprisingly they had received the approval to replace the dash under warranty.

Dash Cracking 07 yukon

The only way we are going to get GM to replace these defective dashboards is to show up in numbers. I have set up a group on facebook to see how many of these units have this problem. You will be able to post pictures of the cracks.

Has anyone checked to see if there are any similarities on the ones that have cracked? Like have you used armor all, color of dash, how many hours of sun per day. Not saying there isn't an issue but seems like some factors may be causing them to crack over others.

2-3 time armor all, car is garaged. contacted armor all and told them that the service guys are telling us that armor all caused the cracked dash, they basically said he was full of crap

(800) 222-1020 to file a complaint. I was given a reference number:
71-799403042. I urge each of you to call and reference this number and your issue. If enough complaints are called in, GMC may take a look at this issue.

No cracks here, ive always used a sun shield in the summer and the vehicle is always in the shade because i park under a oak tree. Also wipe the dash with cleaning wipes from time to time. Hope im one of the fortunate ones

Where are you located? I have the same problem and I am in Georgia and trying to have mine repaired by GM.
