Booooorring we want cool mods!!!:crazy: jk it's nice getting everything complete.
I need to find both of those 2nd row carpet pieces myself. I have them but the part where they snap in are broken. So right not they're out until I find some used or just screw down the ones I have

Found a few more interior pieces at the junk yard.

1. Passenger side A pillar. The top plastic peg had been broken off so it would let go and hang there at random times. Cleaned, replaced and tight.

2. The carpeted flap piece behind the 2nd row seats that covers the gap when the 2nd row is folded forward. The long piece had both hard rubber nubs and both metal/plastic clips broken off before I got the truck. (I still cannot find a correct part number to search online nor help other guys who have been looking for this part or what it is actually called by GM and finding one in the yard that is not stained or molded so bad has been a challenge.)

The carpet needs a clean, but looks to be salvageable and matches my OEM carpet color on the back of the seats. Very happy with this find.

3. On two of the 4 doors the rubber bumper was missing. Now all 4 doors have their respective rubber bumpers.View attachment 66977


4. The 2nd row seat belt between the 60/40 split on the driver's side had the cover broken when I got the truck, but I could never find the correct part. It seemed that different years/trim levels seemed to have a different way of attaching it to the truck/seat frame or it went missing when the 2nd row seat was ripped out at the junkyard. On my 06 LS, it is attached/crimped to the seat base with a thin metal washer and then bolted down with a 15mm nut to the welded bolt.

Anyways, out with the old and in with the new. Plus, now my daughter can buckle her seat belt much easier and it doesn't look like crap with a missing cover. Thankfully it never ripped the seat either.

Wish I would've known you needed a pillars , have a great non Bose set just sitting in my garage.

No worries. I only needed the passenger side and have been on the hunt for my color non-Bose for some time. Thx though.

I know borrrrrring....but they are cool to complete, even though just minor. Reading your late night 24hrs or darkness posts first thing in the morning on the East Coast cracks me up. :)

Success with the second row seat flap. Carpet cleaned up nicely and snapped into the seat frame tight, like it is supposed too. Waited a long time to fix that little problem.

I decided to play around with my Depo headlights and the well-noted wobbly brackets. I found 2
OEM light brackets in the junkyard to play with and see if I could make it work. I originally put two ping pong balls in each bracket to stabilize them and was pretty happy with the results, but wanted to change out to the OEM brackets and see if that would firm them up even more.

There is a notable difference in the stiffness between OEM and Depo. The Depo brackets can be bent while the OEM brackets are fairly rigid.

The cutouts on the bracket are slightly different where the adjustment screws sit/come through. The orientation of the screw holes that attach the bracket to the headlight are aligned differently. The screw with the ball on top has a totally different thread pattern. The OEM screw will not screw into the Depo bracket.
Finally, the back of projector is longer on the Depo, which means that it is easier to insert the bulb/plug first before installing the bracket or be very clever with seating the 3 tabs and turning it to tighten into the housing.

I had to snap out the OEM screw and hammer it carefully into the Depo bracket. Even the place where that specific screw attaches to the OEM bracket is slightly different. The Depo uses a similar white plastic piece to hold the ball of the screw and allow it to rotate during alignment and has 4 little nubs that snap thru and hold it in place. The OEM bracket has a small square additional piece with the white insert that the screw head snaps into and then that piece is screwed to the bracket from the other side with 2 small screws. They happened to be 5mm head screws on the OEM bracket and Phillips head screws on the Depos.

When I finally figured out the slight modifications needed to get the OEM bracket on the Depo headlight, it fit pretty good. Meaning it is not OCD perfect, it was modified slightly to make the bracket and headlight friends, but it feels more rigid than before with the ping pong balls.

The daytime look and alignment on the hood is good and the nighttime cutoff looks right too. Damn it, when I pulled the tape that I had put down to protect the grille edge during the fitment process, some got pulled off. Can see a speckle of chrome in the rounded bit. Average person = never see it. Me = see it every day. ggggrrrrr...

The wobble that was apparent when I first installed them seems to have been reduced, if not eliminated. I could have just left them as is, not pulled a bit of paint, but figured why not give it a go and make it better.

Isn't that strictly an Australian thing?

Yes it is Australian and an acquired taste if you did not grow up with it. Most people just spit it right back out and it is rather funny to watch though. My kids love it as we fed it to them since they were babies.

So one of my wheels started to show some corrosion/defects near the lug nut holes on the face (see close up picture) of one wheel and another wheel lost its center cap.

The center cap gone missing was probably due to when my driver's brake caliper locked up and heated up the wheel, causing the plastic tabs to lose their grip and finally sent it flying off one day. :smh:

I contacted Tony (Norcal SS) with a picture of the corrosion and he had Factory Reproductions send me out a new wheel within one week. The new wheel was mounted yesterday and I had the shop take the center cap off the corroded wheel and put it on the missing wheel. The damaged wheel is already on its way back to California.

Hopefully that wheel is just a one off issue. Back to status quo for today.
