Fog light houseing melted from HIDs

While out of town today I decided to have my DDM HID Lights installed, 35W 5300K 5202 Fogs and 55W 6000K Bi-Xenon HL's, after the installation on the way home, I decided to test the heat/melting factor on the fogs since I use them all the time every time I drive the truck in place of the DRL's which I disabled, I ran the fogs from the install shop to home 110 miles, 90 minutes, got home checked the housing, there was no heat damage or evidence of heat issues to the housing or lens... colors are almost perfect match between 5300k fogs and 6000k HL's.

Do you have the regular round fogs or do you have the Z71 fogs(rectangle)?

Anyone have any ideas why some peoples housings are melting and others dont have an issue?

I have 6000k 35w DDM 5202 and am on my 3rd set of OEM fog housings. The housings are extremely hot even after a 20 mile drive. You basically can't touch the plastic lens it's so hot. It's pretty cramped inside the fog lens so it really doesn't surprise me that they eventually melt. I'm using them randomly to test. If I melt these I'm going back to the stock bulbs or possibly LEDs.

Am I the only one who thinks running HIDs in those housings is too risky!!
A year and a half ago I chose to run 9005 LEDs modded to fit the 5202 housings after I tried simple 5202 Putco bulbs that would get extremely hot. They have been fine ever since until recently when the driver side led bulb started flickering.
So I ordered actual 5202 LED bulbs which will be here soon. Way better than runnig HIDs, though the LEDs are for only looks, and no light output.
BTW you will need 8000k HID headlights to match LED fogs.

Has anyone tryied 25w Ballast? spencershids.com has them in 25w but they are $150 per kit. Anyone know who else sells the 25w for cheaper?

Fitment. After that I realizeno aftermarket ones fit like the stock one, they end up looking ******!
25W ones will work though, but good luck finding a good price.

BTW for all you guys with melted housings, I have ONE good condition used foglight housing for sell with all the necessary hardware to put it on, $30 shipped to your door. Fits either the left or right side. PM me if you want it.
