I know @Doubeleive had some vendor with good HID ballasts?
I was thinking about trying some OEM ballasts as well if there are any favorites..

LED's not optimized yes, but brighter still?
Glare is not bad with LEDs (in my tahoe anyway)
Less than new cars I feel...

Don't HID's put the filament exactly where the stock bulb filment is?
Should be no detrimental effects running HID?
the ballast I get are Hylux, they are a head above the typical crap out there, good components inside. these are like running a hd3500 compared to a 4cylinder
bulbs are bulbs, you can buy the $8 ones or the $20 ones or the $50 ones there is no difference
the difference is the wiring harness utilized and using relays. HID's suck power, the stock wiring and fuses will suffer over time, you might not see it right away but run them on stock wiring over time and you will see the results, melted fuses mostly.
these I order from china because the company that was selling them here no longer does and any others are likely to charge triple the price
these say can-bus but there is no such thing in this application, they are universal. the input plug is adapted to the vehicle harness, the output plugs are standard universal for all (aftermarket) HID bulbs. I have 3 sets of these ballast's only because I have a set in the silverado and a set in the wifes suburban and a spare set in case one ever dies and i won't have to wait 3 weeks for a replacement, i bought the 1st set in 2019 and they are still working perfectly

A very good discussion with a few good points of view. I'm fully happy with my LEDs, and since they are so much better than stock for me, I'm going to stick with them.

It's so much easier to just ignore the diminishing returns of futzing around with Yukon headlights, and go big.....
