Hey everybody. Long time lurker, finally got a Tahoe. It's an '05 Z71. 130k. Got her for a smoking deal, for the most part it's in perfect shape. Also came with some goodies! Has a full spectre cold air intake, new electric fans, full exhaust, wheels and tires, and some lift.

This is the new kid hauler mobile!

I have a few questions. It's running 285/70/17, and I definitely have space for another size or so up. Anybody know what size lift is on it from looking at it? 2.5-3"?

Also, the AC sometimes wants to blow warm for a few seconds and then switch back to cold. Guy i bought it from gave me a part that he says will fix it. I'll post a picture of it when I get a chance.

Last question for now, the little reflectors inside the doors are wanting to come off. Should I just glue them in?

Looks like stock height z71 to me. I'd just glue the reflector light thing back on

Looks stock height maybe some keys to level it a little but maybe 2 in the front tops. Kinda hard.to tell since it's black on black but those tires look like they fill the well nicely I'd stick with that size.

These pictures don't show it as well because of the lighting, it does sit higher than the other Z71s I've been in and driven by, just not sure by how much.

It does need new shoes, I think I'll try 285/75 and if they don't rub I'll go with them.

Any input on the AC thing?

Measure from the ground to the fender/wheel well. Leveled it would be around 40"

Nice ride! Looks like a leveling kit front only. I just did one similar on my 05 z71 Tahoe.

Mystery solved, found a 4wheel parts receipt in the service records, 2.5" front, 1" rear kit installed. So I should be able to run a 285/75/17? Or can I go even bigger? I don't mind a little trimming.

The truck looks real good. Like the black on black.
Are the bow-ties painted black as well?

Rear bow tie is. Front bow tie is missing, I think I am going to create a mesh grill replacement, and mount a 20" light bar in the center flush with the grill.

I have no idea on the Ac or tires sorry, but nice looking rig. Love the black on black, needs some tint in the front and tint the tails maybe :)

I think the tail lights are fine. All black everything was like 5years ago. Need some contrast these days so it doesn't look dated and built 5years ago.. Tail lights look good as is... If anything fix your front bumper/lower part is missing

Yeah, tail lights are getting left alone, I actually like the look of these and the 07-14 Tahoe's with the lower valence removed and a brush guard so that's what I'm going to go with.

Plan to roll it like this for about a year and then go 6" and 35"s.

Well got the headlights working. Didn't mess with the halos but got the kids and highs to work the right way, lows were wired backwards? Not sure how but that was the problem. Not diving into the mess of wires for the halos yet. Don't really care if those are on or not anyways.

Also just discovered I gotta get a new windshield fluid reservoir. At least that's cheap though!

Yea I'm not a fan of blacked out look either but I still see tons of people who are. I figure he was going for that look. If it's done right and tasteful it doest look dated.
But yea I stopped blacking out tails myself about 5 years ago too lol
I like all red tail lights like how I did mine

Nice looking truck - personally I still love as much black as possible. Most of our cars are black and tinted :)

The red-out tails I do like, and have done it on a couple cars, but generally I like the signal to be amber because so many people these days are spaced out or texting, I feel like that extra contrast just might save you a couple times.

Besides the storm trooper ram I had a while, everything me and the wife have had is blacked out. I dig it. I'm not a fan of chrome.
