Hey Guys,

My car's engine compartment is full of dust, and I am planning for some minor performance upgrade, so I want the engine compartment to look nice and shiny.

Is it ok to wash the engine at car washing stations, using high pressure washing equipments? Or should I do it manually by hand and wet towel + air blower only?

I am concerned whether this could affect any electrical stuff under the engine hood.

My car is a 2010 Chevy Tahoe.

Appreciate your opinions.

Thanks,
Sherif

I havent used a pressure washer but have used a regilar hose to hose off the dust. All I do is try to avoid the alternator and fuse box. You should go to the Detailing section in this forum, I have seem some great posts on detailing ones engine bay.

I would avoid a pressure washer..........a degreaser and a brush then rinse gently IMO

Never use a pressure washer to clean an engine bay. I have actaully seen people puncture their intake manifold while doing so. Just get a good concentrate cleaner like Simple Green, soak a COOL engine, let it sit for a minute then just run your garden hose over it to rinse.
