So my trusty Tahoe was sick this week. Dead (dead) battery that was still under warranty. Plopped a new battery in there and it immediately began throwing codes:

Po300- Random Misfire
Po303- Random Misfire/ Cylinder 3.

Plugs are wires checked out ok, so I replaced the coil. Still didn't fix it. Checked the distributor cap, and replaced it which seemed to do the trick. Truck runs smooth, no hesitation, code is now gone.

HOWEVER, while I was poking arounf under the hood, I noticed the top of my engine control module (CPU) had the plastic beginning to melt (I assume from the inside).

So has anyone done this before?
Where to get one?
New or used?
Anything special that I'll need to do, or are they just plug and play?

Sample pic, not mine . . .
