Just received a pair of Ebay tail lights and plugged the drivers side in and it didn't come on at all. However, I noticed when I put the OEM back on, it doesn't come on at all either UNTIL I turn the vehicle off and then only the back up light (middle bulb) works. The bulbs on the top and bottom are not working at all. I take it I have some electrical issue here? Anyone else have this that could offer some advice.

Have you checked the connections under the bumper cover?

I thiught I should take a wire brush to the ground I see but not sure what other connections I should be looking for?

There is a connection under the rear bumper behind the drivers rear wheel and the other connection is on the quarter panel, passenger side. Follow the wires and you are going to run into the connections.

Gotcha. Yeah I know where those connections are. So I guess I need to check each one for an electrical current? Then potentially track down a fuse?

Had more time working on this. Changed the bulbs, used the OEM wiring harness, wire brushed on grounding wire and the tail lights still won’t come on when I turn the headlights on but the individual lights work for backing up and the turning signal. Very weird.

Have you tried the OEM lights again to rule out the EBay lights?

have you checked the fuses? are the front blinkers hyperflashing?

I'll check the fuses in the AM as a last crack at it before I take it to the shop. I figure if it was the fuses they wouldn't work at all, no?

There are separate fuses for ds turn/ stop, ps turn/ stop, ds park lamps, ps park lamps, back up lamps, brake lamps, ds low beam, ps low beam...some are under the hood, some in the interior left side of the instrument panel. Do your front park lights work?

Great question - I never checked the front park. I just know the front headlights work. I’ll look thru the fuses and see as well

tail lights and backup lights are different I believe

Right on... there’s 4 lights in the taillight housing and the middle back up light goes on when I put it in reverse and the 3rd light from the top also works when I apply the brakes and/or put the turn signal on. When I turn the knob up front that turns the headlights on that’s when the drivers side tail lights won’t come on at all and it’s just the left (driver) side taillights. The right side (passenger) is functioning properly.

Yeah like I said before, there’s a driver side park lamp fuse and a separate passenger side park lamp fuse.
