Early Kickdown/Passing Gear

Have a 2003 Tahoe 5.3 LT. About 2 weeks ago it started shifting erratic and going into passing gear when accelerator peddle pressed a little more then 1/4-1/2 way down. Am I looking at a new tranny?

Why don't you check fluid?
Mine kicks down at those pedal positions as well. Depending on a ton of factors.

Why don't you give more information so we can help diagnose your problem if there is one.

Instead of saying that tiny bit....

Was you towing.
Accelerating up a hill.
In tow/haul mode and didn't realize it.

Fluid is full and good color.
Ok it has 140k miles.
No I wasn't towing or going up hill. I'm talking flat road. It's shifting hard from 1-2 and kicking down 1/4 pedal acceleration... Won't Kickdown after 45mph and It won't Kickdown when I go WOT(like to pass a car). From stop if I floor its gutless. But if I give it 1/2-3/4 pedal it takes off. Hmmmm any other info that might be helpful to you?

Oh before I bought it they put a MAF in it and no CEL

okay when its shifting from 1st to 2nd does anything else happen like do the RPMs spike then it jerks into 2nd and then yer saying when your cruzing at freeway speeds like 65mph im assuming and you put it to the floor it doesnt downshift to 3rd?
im assuming its a a 4l60E or 4l65E

What MAF? Have you cleaned the throttle body?
