Double door lock 18 Yukon

I am a one year owner of a nice 2018 Yukon and have lots of observations and questions. One thing that bugs me is the front door latch has to be pulled twice to exit. First pull unlocks the door but does not open. Second pull opens. How can I normalize this so the door unlocks AND opens on the first pull??

Check the manual or go through the settings screen. There should be something for how the locks work. It's one pull like normal on our 2017.

Thanks for the reply. I did study the manual and my interpretation is the settings would need to automatically unlock the doors upon going into Park. Then one pull would pop the door. I would prefer not unlocking everything so may pull the door cards to mechanically delete this feature. On my other cars the inside door handle unlocks and opens in one action. Simple.

Even on PPVs & SSVs, 1st latch pull unlocks, 2nd latch pull opens.
Know that Fords have been unlocking with 1st latch pull since late 80s or early 90s.

In the menu, you can decide: unlock driver's door in Park, or unlock driver's door @ key out

The 1st latch pull to unlock and second to open is a fairly new thing. It used to be either the doors are locked and pulling the latch did nothing or the drivers door was over ridden and you could always pull and it would open whether it was locked or not. That's what Fords still do. I think with them you can also set the doors to unlock in park, when the key is removed or when the drivers door is opened. Dodge is similar.

I tried our Tahoe, either it unlocks all doors going into park, only unlocks the driver's door, or does nothing automatically in which case you have to do the pull twice thing. Don't know how you'd manually disable that in the door?

Have not pulled the door card yet but mechanically disabling the double pull feature sounds like a challenge I can't resist. I know what you are thinking... This must be the same guy that said "hold my beer and watch this".
