Did the Denali ever come with heated wind shield wiper fluid?

My 07 LT hoe never came with this option, but I would like to install it if possible? Working in a shop gives me a big advantage as to having a place and tools to use. Is this possible to be added? If so, what is needed? obviously the heater and the button itself, but is there anything else? Thanks

Yup, you order the standard version of the Alphatherm, the AT-38OD. I used the GM bracket but could have just used the one that comes with the package.

I played around with locations but ended up just attaching it on the left front inner panel just ahead of the fuse panel. Tapped into the washer line immediately above it, and only had to run the fused power line a couple of feet from the 12V terminals at the front of the fuse box. I think it took all of 30 min to do the complete install.

And it's worth every bit of the effort. Takes about 30 seconds to warm up the fluid but with the remote start by the time I get in the car I've got hot washer fluid to spray and clear the morning frost off the windshield. Works like a champ.

Just bought an 08 Yukon a couple days ago and after reading this thread I feel like I hit the used car jack pot. I had seen the button on the dash the day I bought it and was trying to figure out what it did ( this thing has a lot of buttons). Pressing it seemed to do nothing and the LED for the button never lit up. Was browsing through the forums looking for info on the service 4wd message (not what I wanted to see on a truck I just bought) and I seen this thread and knew immediately what the button was for. So I popped the hood and to my surprise the heating unit was still there! I then checked the fuse box and it looks like they just pulled the fuse on it!

Just picked up a fuse...popped that bad boy in and sure enough, I have heated washer fluid! Probably the only case where laziness has paid off.

I would definitely read up on why they recalled them and make sure there is no reason to be concerned.

According to GM these units would short out internally from salt corrosion and then get hot enough to catch fire. The actual number of vehicles this happened to was extremely low. AlphaTherm's complaint to this was the fact GM had similar fires on vehicles that didn't come equipped with this heated washer fluid.

Since the vehicle was bought used, I would double check to see if its in fact an OEM unit or if it is actually a new improved unit from AlphaTherm.

Not totally sure. The ones I had a sticker on the side that you could clearly see while installed. It said AT37GM

my 08 still has it ever since i have owned it...still works fine...i bought mine in 2012...wonder why the original unit is still on there as the guy before me would always to take it to the dealer, even if a tail light bulb went out...

Got a little ice here in KY over night and I got the chance to really put the heated washer fluid to the test. Honestly I wasn't that impressed. I let it run one cycle while I cleared the other windows. I still had get out and break the ice. I'm sure if I would have waited long enough it would have eventually got the job done, but it wasn't nearly a quick as I had imagined it would be. I did make it a little easier when I broke the ice loose but at that point I had already gotten the majority of the work done.

I guess it was decent. would you rather have to do that a couple times or get out and scrape it off? I'm just asking because I don't ever think I'll actually use it here in Florida...

scraping sucks s$$ period...i rather leave the car warm up all day than go out there do that...gotta find another spot for the other car so i can park this in the garage

In fl, i doubt ull ever need it...i have never gotten bugs in my windshield in the summer and thought "hmmm let me use my heated washer"

Well, my ride is usually in a garage and don't have too much issues but a few times I did get some freezing rain on it. I tried just the fluid and wipers and it didn't seem to make a dent. Tried the heater and wipers and it cleaned it off fairly decent. Does it frost it in one wipe? No. Does it speed up the process? Yes. I've also noticed if you let it cycle itself, each time it comes back on, it's hotter than the cycle before.

BTW, I had used it for bugs on my Saturn Outlook. It did seem to work much better too on that as well.

glad i found this thread. i have the button and wondered why it never worked. The shop I took it to said the parts where not there for it to work. now i know why. Will be ordering a replacement.

So I stumbled across this thread tonight and just had to go look at my 2008 Yukon SLT. Sure enough, the recall has been done to my truck long before I bought it. The unit and fuse are both gone. However, I still have the button and mounting bracket installed.

I was reading up on the AT-380D, and I have a question. According to what I read, this unit doesn't use the button, and instead monitors the truck's system voltage to turn on. Is there a way to hook it back up to the factory button and use it like it was originally intended? I don't really need it turning on in the middle of summer. Thanks for a great thread!

I got the AT-37GM and it uses the button. Alphatherm had an ordering option for a 60 amp fuse, so I got that as well.
