So my 2023 Denali is on the dreaded "engine recall list".. Sigh. The dealer told me that I would need to bring it in for an "inspection". Apparently if it passes the inspection I would get an oil change to the different viscosity oil and a new oil cap and sent on my way.. again sigh.. I paid $93K for this rig and have only put 9,500 miles on it in 18 months because I still drive my '03 suburban most days trying to finish it off (but it wont die). Obviously trying to sell my 2023 will be a huge bath as given the recall no one would want the rig. Luckily I am not in a financial position that this is a massive problem for me, but I also don't want to take a huge bath on it. I am considering trading it in or selling it. the news on this seems to show that there are 28,000 incidents out of 877,000 rigs so that is only 3%. Not bad odds I guess... Just looking for any and all advice on my situation. Thanks
I have a 2024 Yukon Denali, approx 8k miles. Valve body went on it, waited 8 weeks for new one. Picked it up last week and same failure. I have had this truck since December and its a nightmare. Truck going back tomorrow. Each time I have taken this in, they have given me a suburban or Tahoe replacement. BOTH have the same trans problems. Sick to my stomach!

What, exactly, is the trans problem?

i don't know.. i just got done purchasing an SLT truck.. i went through to see what was for sale.. with high miles.. at 25k you get 30% 6.2s... at 100k you get 10% 6.2s for sale. At 150k i got 22 5.3s and no 6.2s.

I did a duramax. And i looked around at many years... going back to 2014. i do not the the 6.2s last much more than 125k or so. On the other hand there were a lot duramax for sale at 100k. They only have a few years to get there too.

You can't make a lot of what is for sale.. although i think it does not make me think a 6.2 is on my list.

The 2025 engine has redesigned/different parts and oil jacket. If you trade in for 2025 (if you can find one), in theory you have no worries. I will tell you that my 2025 has been exceptional so far.
Is there any more detailed information about what has been changed on the 2025 engine

Trans problem is the valve body design and build quality is trash. The 21-23 have been recalled for a "software" update to mask a "hardware" problem. Transmission valve body has internal leaks that causes the transmission to bind and the wheels to lock up. Problems appear to get worse at the transmission temperature gets higher as the fluid thins out more. I have seen this similar issue in other model transmissions and have repaired them before.

I have a thread on solving the valve body problem, see link below. I have all the parts, just every time I turn around someone has me scheduled to be somewhere or be taking people places.

I just need 4 hours of uninterrupted time to pull the valve body and rework it.

I have a 2024, has my valve body failed, no, but I am taking a pre-emptive strike to solve the problem before it becomes a problem. There is no way in hell I am going to be stranded by this issue and have to wait weeks or months for a repair.

2024 and 2025 model are having issue and I expect they will be recalled in due time as well. It will just be a matter of time before the 2024/2025 problems get worse as mileage is accumulated on these years. Many have already had problems with the 2024/2025 models.

@Jocko PDX

For a decent place to get a rebuilt transfer case at a decent fixed price, check out The Gear Shop. Link below.

I had my AWD case in my 2005 Yukon Denali leaking badly, the AWD cases are not the ones that the plates wear out the case, they are different than the 2 speed transfer cases. I was able to drive up to the Gear Shop and pick up the reman unit and return the core. This saved me on shipping.

All these guys do is manual transmissions and all kinds of transfer cases. The probably rebuild about 2500 units a year. I cannot recall the exact price but it was around $650 as I recall. They ship and the shipping will cost a bit more, but they can give you an exchange price, none of this we will take it apart and figure out how much it is going to cost you.

I swapped the transfer case myself, it was not too difficult. Been over 2 years without a problem.

The Gear Shop

I snapped this picture while I was waiting for them to bring my transfer case out. This was just a small portion of the cores they have on site and it is not even the built units waiting on the shelf! Crazy the amount of transmissions and transfer cases they had on site. I did not even see the rebuilding area.
