Dashboard Mile issues?

Recently my friend bought a 2003 Chevy Tahoe z71.

He was told it has 157,*** miles

When I looked at it saw the dash showing

"ANNUAL LOG: 157,*** MI"

I'm not sure if it is the actual mileage.
I cannot change it using the dash reset button

Just press the button that sticks in the dash and it will show you the actual miles.
