My 03 Yukon dash display shows that the battery is not charging , voltage gauge shows 14volts, test meter shows 13.9, where should I look to find out why the dash would show the discrepancy? thanks

Moved you here from the 2007-2014 HYBRID section.

To be clear, are you saying that the voltage gauge in the cluster ("dash display") is showing incorrect voltage? Or that the DIC message is about it not charging?

When you say "voltage gauge shows 14 volts" what gauge is that and where is it measuring voltage?

If the display says the battery is not charging, that is telling you that the electrical current flow is from the battery outward, and not inward from the alternator.

The first thing to do is to check battery terminals and the grounds in the engine bay, particularly the engine block to firewall ground strap, to be sure that they are clean and tight. Then, check the battery cables themselves, particularly the one from the alternator to the battery, with an Ohm meter to ensure that they are not corroded inside the insulation.

If all of the above items check out OK, then I'd get the alternator checked out.

I would suggest putting a good scanner on it to read what code is setting the DIC message, then.

Note that the cluster gauges can be defective; has the cluster ever been rebuilt with the updated gauge stepper motors? In other words, don't rely on the cluster gauge; verify with a voltmeter.
