Cruise Control Problem

I am trying to troubleshoot my cruise control. It has stopped working twice before but started working again about a day later. The fuse under the hood is fine and the light next to the on/off switch still illuminates but the cruise control will not set and the green speedometer light within the speedometer does not light up.

Thanks, I read these threads through my research today. As it did the previous 2 times my cruise control came back today. I'll try replacing the stop lamp switch assembly anyway.
