Crank time and maintenance questions

I have an 03 Yukon XL with the 5.3 it seems to me that the crank time seems a little long compared to previous gm products I have dealt with. My first thought is worn plugs or possibly a fuel filter needing replaced. It has 167000 miles. With that my next question is what plugs should I use...with everything online there is crazy comments supporting and dismissing every plug on the market so I thought I would ask a group of like minded people who probably have come upnwoth with a short list of what is best the engine. I also am about to do the first oil change since buying it. I have always used Mobil products and fram filter but I havent owned a gm in a while so any suggestions would help to keep the beast happy lol. I was thinking maybe a high milage oil I have never used it beforeim not sure if its all hype or if it really does help. Thanks in advance for all input

First things first check your battery and alternator or have autozone or like store check it. Use high mileage, my Yukon developed a small leak right after I started using Mibil 1 synthetic. 160k

Thanks for the tip. The alternator is putting out good the battery per the date removed on the top of the battery is like 6 years old...it keeps starting even with our early A.M. -20 wind chill temps it just seems to crank a little long. Crank speed seems ok. I dont know maybe its normal with this engine and the fact that its a control module might be a factor im not sure.

I know my Tahoe has a long crank time. I put a trickle charger on it and it reported my battery as being a little low. Like 10.5 to 11 volts. So, I let it trickle charge and it got to 13.0. Took charger off and checked again next day and it was still at 13. So I cranked it and it started right up.
If anything you may just clear the battery posts and see if that helps at all. And what the battery is sitting at after it sits overnight. May just need a cleaning or even a new battery.
If neither of those help then it may need plugs or a pump.

Is it cranking slowly, or cranking fast but taking a long time to start? I'm having this issue on occasion and I'm suspecting it is a fuel pump going out.
