you happy with the 16 ga wire or do you wish you went for the 12? its a $20 difference what are your thoughts?

honestly you won't audibly notice the difference..
if you are running around 100 watts to your speakers 16 gauge is plenty

I have 16 on my tweeters and 12 on the mids, then 16 from the crossovers to the amp

any more updates on this?

Im running 100 per channel to the speakers only thing i hear bad about the 12 ga is its harder to work with in the dash... I just don't want to spend a grand on door speakers and not put the correct wiring in.

16 is overkill for only 100 watts on an a/c circuit. It's just a convenient size to use.

12ga would be a waste of money, and time.

It's been awhile since I did some major work on th truck. My shoulder poped out and back in over a month ago so I have been taken it easy letting it tighten back up (old college football injury). But I'm back! Here is today's work, I have been working on the center console. I took the wood grain plastic off the cup holder piece and epoxyed it back on to basically make it one piece. Then I hit it with a little tiger hair to build up the corner to match the front monitor piece and smooth things out. It still needs a little more tiger hair and then some filler to smooth it out before it gets leathered. The front monitor piece is nearly there, just one more hit of filler and some hand sanding should match it up and smooth it out before leather. I have finished the rear monitor piece and she looks sweet. All pieces will get hit with a quality primer to seal things up before leather. I also finished up some of the dynamat on the roof. Better pics and progress tomorrow...

Hit the cup holder piece with a little more tiger hair and filler to match it up with the front monitor piece. Just a few touch ups to both and it should be good to go for primer.

Alright here is where I am right now. Front monitor, cup holder section and rear monitor section are all ready for primer. I coated the MDF in liquid resin and it was absorbed into the MDF which leaves a perfectly paintable surface after sanding. I'm now dipping into getting the CD/DVD changer mocked up. The DVD changer will get a framed opening like the monitors, and sanded into match the compartment. Once it’s done it will get primed and painted. Some issues arose when I started thinking hard about cover the console pieces with leather. The front two pieces are going to be very difficult to cover with leather. So I will be painting them a flat black color to match the match the gauge cluster surround. The rest of the console will get leather….
The pictures should tell the story....

Thanks guys, moving along, moving along...
Next week the truck comes to my shop for some body work.
Fitting the HD Hood, Replacing the front end I f'd up, and welding up the hole for the rear wiper, then paint. There I have the room to begin to put the carpet in, Front seats, and then finish up the amp rack/enclosure.
By the end of this weekend I'm hoping to have both rear trim panels in a layer of fiberglass, and figuring out the placement of the 2 JL audio W6v2's.
