Coolant Leak Near Front of Engine

Hey guys,

I'm getting a very slow coolant leak from the front of the engine. On all other vehicles I've had that was normally indicative of the water pump. But when looking around, i don't see anything coming from the water pump. I can definitely see coolant on the harness right by the crank pulley. And i see some drops on the transmission cooler lines. What are the normal culprits to look for? The searching I did mentioned the intake manifold and then a heater quick disconnect. Any tips are appreciated.

Matt, I don't have a further suggestion. You have already looked at the places I would have thought the leak to come from. When you (or a mechanic) does find the source the leak, please reply back. Your finding would be useful to us all. Jim - 02 Yukon SLT.

That's the fun thing about water lol. Does it leak with hot or cold? I would dry everything off in the areas and then see if you could chase it down that way. Slow leaks are the worse to try and find but a good cleaning could help you to chase it down. Please post back if you find it.

Yep, seems to be a pretty steady slow drip. This morning there was about a quarter size spot on the driveway. I was hunting for about an hour last night with my flashlight and could not find it. Looks like it may be time to remove somethings sand look closer. The truck is still pretty new to me, so I need to do the hoses anyways, just for my own sake. I will keep this updated, and snap some pics too along the way.

If really hard to find get some UV dye in there to help track it down.

Intake manifold gasket. Very common on the vortec. replace with felpro fixit gaskets. Stock ones were plastic and were torqued to much. They all seem to do it at some point.

I have heard the intake manifold gaskets were not very reliable. The car has been sitting for a while while, I've been out of town.

I thought most intake manifold gaskets leaked near the rear of the engine? Shouldn't I be able to see where it is leaking from there too?

the coolant passages form the heads to intake manifold are at the front of the engine.
