coolant gauge not working

hi my coolant gauge is showing max hot at key on - but the scanner is showing the correct temperature

the car only has 1 coolant temp sensor right? so that means the actual cluster gauge is defective?

are there any simple solutions other than cluster replace?

what year?

likely a stepper motor in the cluster which if you're good at soldering can be DIY. otherwise, there are LOTS of folks/companies that fix out on the web.

yes, only 1 temp sensor on driver's cylinder head, forward near cylinder 1.
