I am wondering if anyone has converted their side mount battery to top mount. If so how did you do it and has it been reliable? I see these conversion kits and not sure how well they work or if there is a better way. Any advise would be appreciated. The main reason is I am adding some off road lights.

once I got away from OE GM batteries, I've had no issues - I am running interstate now. I've also done Optima. I would run a lead to the positive - get a good + wire, and run it to a separate junction - fused. then run your lights and relays from there.

Years ago a friend of mine had a car that came with a short cable on it that the side mount cables bolted to that clamped to the top post.

But if you're only doing this for accessories it would be far easier to just get a dual terminal battery. They have both the GM side terminals and the normal top posts. Then you don't have to mess with the original cables and get the top post to connect everything else to.

Not a fan of the side mount setup so I started with a dual setup battery then switched to top post cables when the side terminals were corroded yet again. I skipped the side to top post kits since the oe cables had corrosion deep into the wire cables

Simplest way, is to get the side mount terminal to top terminal kit. Sell them at the auto parts store.
