Hello everyone i have a 2004 yukon denali that was kind of a hammy down from a family member, and now that i’m starting to work on it i’m realizing i’d like for the interior to be black, the vechicle originally came in tan, and i was wondering what’s the actual reality of changing the interior color? is it super expensive and not worth it or is it pretty cheap if i can find them used, most used yukons i’ve seen were more grey than black so idk, i’d like to change all interior pieces to black including carpet and the headliner too. could i also in theory paint it? or would that look stupid. i would buy what i could in black and not paint the seats, or carpet, or headliner ofc only pieces that are impossible to come by in perfect condition

You’d definitely want to replace not paint the carpet and headliner. There are a bunch of pieces to change. I’d grab my phone and take a bunch of pictures of the plastic parts then write a list. Finding one being parted out might be the best way but remember those parts are 25 years old.

Only problem is no black interior was offered in those years…. Gray or tan… you can def get a aftermarket black carpet, swap the headliner material, find seat covers in black but all the plastic will need to be painted with automotive plastic interior paint…..and prepped correctly otr it will look shoddy…

Pull a part is your friend. In the past I’ve converted entire interiors of vehicles using a donor car from pull a part (not carpet tho, you can buy that else where cause old carpet is usually … bleh). You might luck up, find an interior that’s in good shape and unmolested, and maybe even in a higher trim so you might get some nicer stuff.

If as mentioned black was not an interior option for the year, , then i would settle for grey.

Check connectors at the seats to make sure everything is plug n play, like for power and seat sensors for airbags, and if it’s not, you may have to do some messing about to get everything to work correctly.

Wondering if a Tahoe or Yukon may have been available in black? Not all pieces are one off for Denali. It may also be possible that some pieces carried over from the prior year I just don’t knotan 04 well enough. I did a quick search for black parts and saw center consoles and dash parts.

Some replacement dashes or interior are reproduced black for color matching to your interior. But yeah, no factory option for a black interior unfortunately… grey or tan
